Cool Weather Signs

I read an article in yesterdays Daily Mail about weather signs, it made me think waaay back to when i was a kid, my mum always said "If cows in the field are lying down it's going to rain"
Does anyone have any unusual ways of forcasting the weather?

Weather Signs Daily Mail Sat May 28th

"When bees to distance wing their flight,
days are warm and skies are bright.
But when he flight ends near the hive,
wind and rain will soon arrive.

Bees have a great sensitivity to changing levels of humidity and electrical activity, especially when a low pressure system is on its way, causing them to make a beeline for the hive.
One study shows bees remaining near the hive on over 70% of occasions when rain threatens.
Another points out that they have a markedley reduced ability to carry polien when thunder threatens.

er, how about, "if you`re soaked through to the skin and there`s puddles and umbrellas everywhere, it`s probably raining quite hard" (ho, ho?!)

Old timers I knew used to say that if there was a very "red" sunset, then the next day was going to be hotter than blazes

Abbey, when I was working in Ireland , one of our labourers was also a dairyman. I asked him if it was true about cows lying down meanig rain. "No, of course not" he said. "Then why are the cows laying down", I asked. "They're tired" he replied, with not an ounce of sarcasm in his voice
