Exclamation Pope reiterates religious stance on Europe

Rocco Buttiglione, a Roman Catholic and friend of the Pope John Paul 11, was unable to become European justice minister in the European Commission after the EU parliament objected to his very conservative views on homosexuality and single mothers.

The Vatican is not at all happy with the fact that the proposed European Union constitution does not specifically mention Christianity i.e. Roman Catholic Church, according to the Vatican News agency "Zenit". according to the Pope whoever speaks of christianity speaks for Rome.

Re: Pope reiterates religious stance on Europe

Henry Ford:

History is more or less bunk. It's tradition. We don't want tradition. We want to live in the present and the only history that is worth a tinker's damn is the history we make today.

The EU should beware. They think that their million pages of policy will cure all ills. Throw out tradition and throw away success.

Thumbs up Re: Pope reiterates religious stance on Europe

''Christianity is not, and should not be, linked to any political regime nor associated with any particular form of government, even a democratic one. On this point, as elsewhere, it is essential to distinguish the domains of God and Caesar''

Robert Schuman (1886 - 1963) noted French Roman Catholic politican who is regarded as one of the founders of the European Union.
