the Witch of Endor

There is a very interesting story in the bible that concerns a certain witch that King Saul went to consult, before his battle with the Philistines. What I find so interesting, is that the witch was SUCCESSFUL in calling up the spirit of Samuel, the prophet. According to the scriptures, it really was his spirit! And he condemned Saul for doing it. What this tells me is, that there truly are people who are mediums. It gives credence to the art of magic. Astrology as well. The three wise men discerned from the star of Bethlehem, that a new king was to be born in Israel. And the priests of egypt were able to duplicate some of the ten plaques. So what has happened to all this knowledge?

Some would say it is alive and well. I think only fragments of the knowledge exist in most people who consider themselves adept. And a little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Especially if they dare to believe that they know "it all".

Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary: “an account of incidents or events” or “ A statement regarding the facts pertinent to a situation in question” ….can also be a fictional narrative shorter than a novel.

It's good to see that you’ve seen the light Ted.

LOL! Ted, I believe what makes them interesting, is the fact that I believe they actually occured!

Unlike Moby Dick or Oliver Twist. (of which I have read both)

Do you know and understand the dangers of consulting 'wizards that peep', and do you know that what Saul did cost him his kingdom, and do you know that it was strictly forbidden to do what he did and that there was a death sentence on people who consulted witches or 'seers'?
The witch conjured the likeness of Samuel, and we know that the devil can change his appearance (note in the garden he was a serpent), and a likeness of Samuel does not the real thing make.

Will you read the whole story and get back to me? Thank you.

Re: the Witch of Endor

It is an interesting "story" unfortunately not historical just as the previous story present by Raven is pure "story". It has truths to tell but it is in itself nothing more then a story.

Ooops. Guess I'll lose my kingdom. What a damn shame that'll be. LOL.

Know it all? Why, young lady, it's in the bible for all to know, didn't you know that? If you don't know it from there, you know it from hearsay, which is not knowing, but repeating stories. If you really want to know something the bible says, you read the bible and then you'll know it. Simple, eh?
