A bunch of fluff?
A child once said on a test "Science is material. Religion is immaterial".
Maybe he was right? I sure get a warm fuzzy feeling from it, though. What do you get from your religion...or lack of it. |

Re: A bunch of fluff?
Science is broadly speaking based on empirical evidence. Religion is largely speaking based on faith. Thus the 2 are different, albeit interwoven, and it`s logical that we should see them in different ways!

Re: A bunch of fluff?
I am all for people having faith and believing in something. I personally don't find it necessary to go to church every Sunday to be able to speak to God. If I have something to say, I am certain that He will hear me where ever I may roam.
What I do have a problem with is, forgive the term, "Bible-thumpin' Jesus-freaks." Those who go around trying to convince others that theirs is the right way. I don't need your ideological doctrine shoved down my throat. I also dislike those who take their particular faith to the extreme and kill in the name of God. Islamics are the most publicised, but the Klan did it as well. And the great Crusades were fought for that same reason.

Re: A bunch of fluff?
"Fluff" is a good way to describe modern organised religion to me..
Everyone bases their lives on books that are "word of God" but are edited by man! Barmy!

Re: A bunch of fluff?
I get a sense of self worth from my religion, that is "believe in thyself" as well a good sense of my own strength and courage. I also feel great pride in my accountability, I am accountable for me, my actions, my thoughts. I am not religisized.

Re: A bunch of fluff?
What do I get from my faith? Peace, love, compassion, careing, companionship, a feeling of belonging to a very concerned and comapassionate community, friendship. I could go on but I think you get the message.
