Alpha course any good?
My local Methodist church intends to run an Alpha course, a series of ten discussions concerning God and other related matter. It is an official course, and I am wondering whether there are any fellow Methodists out there who have attended such a course, and their comments as to whether they benefitted from these discussions.

Re: Alpha course any good?
You've done it TWICE! Wow, you must be enlightened! I'll certainly give it a try. What I find useful is to make notes as you progress though a course and put them onto your hard drive so you can glance back at them and see if your views have altered. When I became a born again Christian I decided to keep a monnthly "prayer diary" and it makes fasinating reading.

Re: Alpha course any good?
I also did the Alpha course as I had heard a lot of good reports about it, I enjoyed the social aspect of it too, it is fairly basic but well worth doing if your a younger Christian, I was Pastors wife and Missionary for 16 years and didn't get too much out of it, but that could also have been the way it was put across. It was still worth doing and would recommed you do it as you will enjoy it.

Re: Alpha course any good?
Ho hum... I'm not exactly what you'd class as a "younger Christian". At 57, I'm no spring chicken. However as a born again Christian who found the TRUE meaning of salvation only a few years ago, I still thank God for continuing to feed me spiritually. Without spiritual fulfillment, it is perilously easy for the Devil to get a foothold, although I don't believe in him as an individual, so I will take anything that gives me spiritual nourishment. Unfortunately we tend to be in a minority, where even members of your own family jeer and ridicule you - atheists and proud of it. I'll give it a go. In my church I am actually one of the younger members!
