Blood donors needed - Page 3

I have given blood 63 times. I gave often when I was in the military as a kid, just to get a day off, later in college, I sold my blood to help pay for books. Then, as a working adult, I just donated periodically. A+

Congratulations to all donors. I believe the stats are that you save three lives every time you donate. All blood types are needed. If you have O neg they call you every time you can donate again.

after reading this I am inspired to go give blood, I also have a somewhat rare blood type, O-positive

Actually, it's not rare at all! I think it is somehere btwn 34/38% of people.

Koan, you said it when you talked about how good it makes you feel. What an easy way for a lift, no drugs needed. I did get woozy at first but after 5 gallons, I just look forward to the cookies when it is over. That is the real reason I go.

I cannot understand why anyone who could donate would not, especially when they tell you how many lives you touch. When they told me that my O- would be used for fetal surgery, I was thrilled. Also when they told me my universal blood could be used for tramas or for cancer victims or anyone who needed blood.

But O blood is not the only typed needed. They want it all and desperately need it.

To anyone who does donate...you are doing a wonderful thing!
