Re: America's hidden drug problem

I'm glad I'm on the way out,and not on the way in.[/quote] I will learnhow todo this.

Hey Capt., Life is sweet no matter what the burden, and it is a hell of a lot better than the alternative. It is evident you have considerable intelligence yet can not find a spark in life. Your pain, what ever it is, is yesterdays news and should be treated as such. Sometime when one sincerely wishes to accomplish some ask one must practice, practice practice. If life has become a slippery slope, one must concentrate on what the good times have been and as a practice keep reviewing the good times. No matter how bad life may seem it is obvious you can think intelligently and respond and from your own words have had some good times. It is obvious you are not a vegetable. So I say to you practice reviewing life can be good and if the good old times are not available the new good ole’ times are. An all ya have ta do is practice, practice, practice .

Re: America's hidden drug problem

I lost one friend to heroin addiction in the 70s (he went out of his way to get hooked and might have deliberately overdosed) ) and a few of my high school buddies became hopeless losers because of chemical dependency.

But with the advent of crack cocaine, and widespread meth abuse, drug addiction has become a major American health problem. Heroin use is making a comeback too even on college campuses where smoking heroin has become hip.

Fortunately, we're making slow but steady progress in addiction research and treatment. Someday, addiction will be treated with a combination of pharmaceuticals and minor brain surgery under local anesthetic. Until then, I prefer treatment to incarceration for drug abusers.

Re: America's hidden drug problem

its not a suprise to me, we have all had bouts with drugs one time or another, people need drugs, a break once in awhile is okay, i'm not saying take until you drop, but everyone needs to mentally get away. i don't believe anything is hidden, you can get anything you want any time, so, its up to you. with the world becoming more complex and more difficult to live in, this is what people take up. feel no pain, medicate the soul, some just don't want to know whats going on? i guess thats a choice too? don't tell me you never took anything before?

Re: America's hidden drug problem

America does have such a huge problem with prescription drugs. I have been in recovery for 9 months now and I couldn't tell you how much better my life has gotten. 1 day at a time. It is a hard disease to live with, not a day doesn't go by that I don't think of getting high again. I have just learned to deal with it a little better. Focuse on important things in life. I am enrolled in school now and don't have to lie about life. That is the best part about not using pills anymore. I love my life now!
