Poor Peg.... I know how your feel !!!

Day One

Pete has not had one cigg so far and It's nearly 1 pm Blighty time.

I have succumbed but I did go and sit on the patio round the back of the house so he did not Inhale my smoke.

God, this is just toooooooooooooo tough. I dreamt about ciggs last night.

I have three patches on. It reminds me of when I was in court for four days. There was one day I came over faint and my lawyer asked If it was nerves. I told him I had six high strength patches on and you'd not believe the bollocking he gave me. And I was still having ciggs in the breaks. I have smoked since I was around 12 years old. For the past 30 years I have smoked 60 a day. Yeah yeah yeah, i know.... £125 a week for all those years !!!!!

I have set myself a goal as we are putting the cash daily into a pot. I am booking the next trip to Turkey and that much wanted vacation to the Deep South of America.

THINK OF IT AS STARTING, !!! A new life feeling healthier, giving yourself more money, use it to take yourselves out for a fabby meal or something, and you wont have to go stand outside in the rain to have a smoke,, you can just relax and sit in the warm and enjoy your meal You are going to have a fab holiday with all the money you used to spend on cigs at certain times you need to replace your ciggy time,, like i always sat at the kitchen table with my first morning coffee and had a ciggie ,,, but when i quit i was just sitting there staring in to space so now i take my coffee in the living room and turn on the morning news

Thats so true... finding ways to distract yourself. I know you quit cold turkey and I really admire you for that. I did actually give up once for 7 months and I was so proud of myself but It all went wrong as It was the time Pete needed Major sugery for the cancer last time round. I started slipping and began hiding packs of ten around the house from Pete. One a day turned into 5 and then 5 turned into 20. There is no such thing as just having one is there?
My patio is very sheltered and I've got furnature out there so It's quite Inviting to go sit out there even in this weather. Be strong Julie.... be strong !!!!
Actually, I nearly bloody died about ten years ago from a Pulmery Embolsim ( Blood clot on the lung). After my lung scans, they told me they were astonsished that I had the lungs of a non-smoker. My Doc is furious they told me that as he said that just gave me the green light to carry on. He said they should never have said that to me at the time. Yet, my sister who never ever smoked or drank, died of cancer, same with my Father.

Oscar,,, if you quit before then you know you can do it ,,and you have quit cold turkey and will quit cold turkey cos the day will come when you dont use patches etc.
Never mind about where you went wrong in the past, thats gone ,, this is a new time I know its harder for you cos it wasnt your decision,, you dont REALLY want to do it, but feel you have to ,, thats harder imo.

Can I ask you? Did your appitite Increase? I ballooned last time and had to lose two stone afterwards. I'm on a bloody diet as well because Pete has been put on a diet Incase he needs surgery. he's not overweight but the Doc Just wants him to lose a couple of stone.

Yes i ate like a pig!! im still trying to get the weight off its not too much ,, but just a bit too much if you know what i mean ,,, try drinking every other time you want to eat ,,, no not alcohol just a drink instead of eating

I don't drink alcohol at all except for Christmas but I was thinking of doing some fresh fruit smoothies in the Liquidiser as they can be very filling on the stomach. I had some Mango last night which was delish. I started putting Saccarin in my coffee and then read in the Daily Express last night that they can cause raised blood pressure. eeeeeeeeeeek
