Re: November 22, 1963~ JFK

I remember being released from kindergarten by a crying teacher... by the time I got home, my sister was crying hysterically. I didn't realize what the problem was... I don't think I knew what a president was, much less who he was. I was frightened when Bobby was killed though, and Martin Luther King Jr. The 60s were a scary time.

I wasn't quite 3 but I do remember my mom watching it on t.v. and not understanding why she was crying over a man she did not know.

Re: November 22, 1963~ JFK

I remember this day. My parents left us children with our grandparents, they were going to Korea to bring home 2 orphan children to become my brother and sister. But a few hours later they came back and got us. I asked them where was my brother and sister, and how did they get back so fast? The airports had been shut down for security reasons, and they took off the next day. We watched the funeral with my grandmother on TV, and I always remember little Jon-Jon saluting his father as he passed by.

Re: November 22, 1963~ JFK

It was a shock to everyone.

I especially felt the pain because prior to President Kennedy, we were considered the "ugly American's" to those abroad, but with his term things had begun to change. 'We' were again PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN........

I remember bobby and martin. I remember wondering what in the world we would ever do and how how anyone could bring themselves to do such a thing.

But that was when I gave mankind more credit then it deserves..

I remember it like it was yestarday.. First it is on my sisters birthday.. !! Bummer
I was in 10th grade in my Biology class on the 3rd floor, my seat looked out the window. I remember to this day watching the flag be lowered at school. It was a sad sad day. We went home and watched it on TV for days.. Crying, crying.. and wondering why ???

strangely, i kept hearing a replay of the TV reporting in my mind as i slept and dreamed, over and over and over, the same words repeated verbatim. it was eerie.

I was pretty upset when John Jr died in a plane crash, too.

No, I don't think so. The whole "Camelot" thing was one of the biggest PR scams ever perpetrated on the American people. At that time especially, had it come out how he was behaving, it would have been political suicide and he would not have had the respect he had...Especially with everyone feeling about Jackie the way they did. Had all of that come out, and then he was shot, the reaction would have been the same though. That wasn't just about him, that was about vulnerability...much like 9/11.

Re: November 22, 1963~ JFK

Jackie's practically been canonized, yet for what? Was she really so stricken by having her husband's head explode next to her that she was trying to gather the pieces, as I've read in our oh-so-accurate press, or was she really trying to get the hell out of way of another bullet? Does anyone really believe she married Onassis for love? I give her credit for raising two beautiful children, but what has she really done that her elite upbringing didn't already give to her?
