Re: Idea's of what to do with Austwich liberation pics
Yes... My opinion of Spot dipped some-what after reading here that he read a copy of The News Of The World, but opinion may be restored now. He has redeemed himself.
Far better they go to folks who will study them and appreciate them. ![]()

I agree Spots suggestion is excellent, but I thought Beth Shalom might be a good starting point for you. They'd no doubt consider what you have as a valuable resource, and advise you further.

What treasures you have there Oscar. They certainly deserve a good home
![]() It would be lovely to see some of them even thought it would be so much sadness just thinking about those disgusting years ![]()

Re: Idea's of what to do with Austwich liberation pics
Thankyou Kathy. I think one of the reasons they have remained un-looked at for so many years is that one feels that they are intruding in people's horror and grief when you look at them. Far better they go where they can be looked at as part of history.

He was also offered mega bucks for the embroidered postcards his grandfather posted from the Somme just before he was shot in the head at 29 yrs old and Mr O's mother was 2 yrs old. I have no Idea what to do with those either. Mt fathers WW2 log books I have willed to my brothers little boy along with other WW2 memorabilia. I was once offered £6,000 for dad's log books... yeah right !!! As If !!!!

Re: Idea's of what to do with Austwich liberation pics
For Mr O's grandad's stuff, I would suggest contacting the Imperial War Museum. They made a big effort to collect information - pictures, oral records and such - about the 1st WW before all the old soldiers died, and I think they'd be very interested. If they aren't, I'm sure they could point you in the right direction.
