The Death March.. The Rape of Nanking.. The Korean Sex Slaves.. And the lack of apology for numerous additional war crimes commited by Japanese troops during WWII..

I just watched "The Great Raid" on disc. Awesome movie, the book was much better.
They way the Imperial Japenese military treated POW's was evil incarnate. But I don't think of war as retribution, only extremely necessary at times. Mercy should be shown on quartering troops, and basic humanity should be the norm. And we should not seek revenge by committing another atrocity even though we may be "justified" by their actions first. having said that I dont belive that we dropped the atomic bomb n them for revenge, we did it to show them that we have more power than they do and they ought to surrender. |
