ITALIAN MEAT BALL COOKIES

1 c. vegetable shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
5 c. flour
3 eggs
5 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. cloves
1 tbsp. nutmeg
3/4 c. baking cocoa
1 c. nuts (opt.)
1 c. chocolate chips (opt.)

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs; then add vanilla and milk. Add flour, baking powder, cocoa and spices. Add nuts and chocolate chips. Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes in a 375 degree oven. When cookies are cool, frost with glaze.

GLAZE:

3 tbsp. butter
3 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Add enough warm milk as needed to make glaze into a runny consistency
Definitely going to make those, Marie

Re: cookies

pompom...an FYI, adding the chocolate chips is a tad bit of overkill. My sister in law, who is usually the one who makes them, does not add the chips..just the nuts.

Re: cookies

My favorite cookies are white chocolate chip. And not in a chocolate cookie base, but a 'vanilla'- type cookie. And you can hold the macadamia nuts, please
