North Korea
According to recent news reports 40% of North Koreans will need food aid next year because of shortages of fertilizer and fuel needed to grow crops.
Should the world again provide such aid? The immediate humanitarian response will like be, of course, we can't let people starve. And yet, this has happened over and over again because of the government of North Korea and the way it runs the country. So in the long run is the rest of the world helping the North Korean people or merely propping up a dictatorial regime that abuses the people while maintaining one of the worlds largest standing armies and leverages world opinion to help keep it in power? Seems to me that the only way things will change for the better in North Korea is for the people to have had enough and rise up.

Re: North Korea
If you are really in China, is North Korea and that environment really the kind of neighbor you want?

Re: North Korea
Acturally, We don't want a neighbour like North Korea. However, this country is a product of cold war., so is South Korea. Noone wants to see wars again.
The problem is , if USA doesn't help South korea, then we won't help North korea. So if you want to solve the problem with North korea, you have to solve the problem with China first.Otherwise, you can't invade North korea as simple as invading Iraq. |

I am not sure what helping South Korea means, I believe we have been doing that for over fifty years and sending food to North Korea as well for that matter.
