Wonderful post! The carvings remind me somewhat of those I saw at Mitla & Monte Alban, although they were Zapotec and I believe more recent and farther north.

Yes it's easy to see the similarities, it is suggested that the first writing systems of Mesoamerica were developed by The Zapotecs.

I had a guide in Monte Alban who explained that because of the lack of the alphabet at the time, that the doctors of the day carved images of their medical records on the big stone tablets which we were viewing. I have a video I took of stone tablets showing a breech birth, a hunchbacked man, etc.
