Beautiful historic buildings

Arnold posted a picture of a beautiful church that he is hoping to do some restoration work on. Have you got any favourite pictures of historic or beautiful buildings near to where you live.
This is Lancing college a private school about 5 minutes away from me. The building on the right is the Chapel.

Re: Beautiful historic buildings

I love old buildings with a passion. When I get a digital camera I'll post some of my favoutites. I'll see if I can find one or two of my faves in London on the net.

The old church houses near the one I posted , are 15th century and they are wonderfully crooked. Not a level or plumb line anywhere, glorious

My brother lives near Mountfitchett near Stansted Airport. I love going to visit because we always drive out to some of the beautiful villages. Saffron Walden is a particualr favourite of mine.

Re: Beautiful historic buildings

I have worked on this church (in 1997 ) and have left my mark. Parts of this church are a thousand years old and every monarch up to Queen Victoria has used it. Henry V celebrated his victory at Agincourt with 700 men here in 1415. I think you could say that was historic

Re: Beautiful historic buildings

Chonsi...this is Chichester Cathedral, about 30 minutes drive for me. I go there and light candles for my Mum and Dad....it makes me cry sometimes ....the feeling of history is overwhelming. Chichester is an old Roman City. We have 2 sites of Roman villas in Sussex, complete with underground heating ! The romans must have found the weather here quite cold compared with italy. ....no wonder they went home !!!
