It happened by chance
accidental, nothing more.
A summer of stolen time
remembered evermore.
From the moment I saw you;
saw you glancing my way
your eyes said far more
than your words could ever say;
Your lips uttered notions
that your eyes would betray
the heavens within them
could blow me away.
I believed that there was a chance for us,
that love overcame all things
you let me believe it was so;
Hope died on broken wings.
Drifting on the tide of memories now,
I let myself think of you once more.
I have erased all physical traces
of the one I still adore.
Our last meeting was brief, to be sure
that light in your eyes gone, put out.
