The stimulus bill explained.

If you didn’t understand before, this explains it!

Shortly after class, an economics student approaches his economics
professor and says, "I don't understand this stimulus bill. Can you
explain it to me?"
The professor replied, "I don't have any time to explain it at my
office, but if you come over to my house on Saturday and help me with my weekend project, I'll be glad to explain it to you." The student agreed.
At the agreed-upon time, the student showed up at the professor's
house. The professor stated that the weekend project involved his
backyard pool.
They both went out back to the pool, and the professor handed the
student a bucket. Demonstrating with his own bucket, the professor
said, "First, go over to the deep end, and fill your bucket with as much water as you can." The student did as he was instructed.
The professor then continued, "Follow me over to the shallow end,
and then dump all the water from your bucket into it." The student was naturally confused, but did as he was told.
The professor then explained they were going to do this many more
times, and began walking back to the deep end of the pool.
The confused student asked, "Excuse me, but why are we doing
this?"
The professor matter-of-fact stated that he was trying to make the shallow end much deeper.
The student didn't think the economics professor was serious, but
figured that he would find out the real story soon enough.
However, after the 6th trip between the shallow end and the deep
end, the student began to become worried that his economics professor
had gone mad. The student finally replied, "All we're doing is
wasting valuable time and effort on unproductive pursuits. Even worse, when this process is all over, everything will be at the same level it was before, so all you'll really have accomplished is the destruction of what could have been truly productive action!"
The professor put down his bucket and replied with a smile,
"Congratulations. You now understand the stimulus bill."

Thats cute!

I wish it was that simple- the analogy, although it works to show the futility and the madness doesnt take into account the interest of borrowing the money. So in addition to the futility and madness add billions in interest.

A sad commentary on the state of things.

Tonight President Obama is going to speak to the Nation "to instill confidence" in this plan.

Those that are going to benefit from the give aways he's initiated think he's wonderful. Those who are paying for it and trying to build the businesses which create the jobs know you can't spend your way out of debt. Unless the business community turns stupid overnight, I don't see him stimulating them into action.

Re: The stimulus bill explained.

I thought this belonged in the funnies so I am adding it here........

What a BUNCH of unfunded CRAPPP...........
OUR POOR children will be loving us in the year 2020..

After Obama declared of his stimulus plan that "we passed the recovery plan free of earmarks" - Republicans have been quick to point out the White House's selective earmarking policies when it came to the omnibus spending bill.
"There are 9,000 reasons to vote against this spending bill - 9,000 earmarks slipped and crammed into this pork-stuffed nightmare," Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.), declared Wednesday. "Last night, President Obama bragged about this claim that there were no earmarks in his stimulus bill -- and yet he's silent today as he prepares to put his signature on 9,000 earmarks."

WOW !!! They say there are no earmarks or pork barreling in the spending bill. Pick your state and town and see who is kidding who??

It's just as well, any resemblance would be coincidence anyway.
