Smoot gets Nobel prize for physics

Mr. George Smoot and a collegue got the nobel prize today for their brilliant work on the background cosmic radiation. I'm just reading his book actually so its great to see him get rewarded for his teams' exellent work. Another great triumph for American science, lets hope one day that Congress will allow U.S. scientists to build the high energy particle accelerator that was scrapped so short-sightedly before. Well done mr. smoot.

Yes, its called "wrinkles in time" which when taken out of contect could be a country song about old people in love or something couldn't it? This guy is great with the inadvertantly funny names, as well as being a nobel prize winning cosmologist in his day job.

I really do love the "smoot" name, its like I keep imagining a weather broadcast, "the weather in East Anglia will be changable today with a high probability of smoot over the coast". Brilliant.
