    Atlanta/Atlantis

The Six Flags amusement park has gone waterlogged as the flood situation in Atlanta, Georgia worsens, even parts of the roller coaster at the park have gone beneath the murky flood water.

The Atlanta flooding is presenting a grim picture as the death toll has risen to 7, amongst these was a two year old boy who was swept away from his father’s arms in the flood, and was later found dead downstream. More to it, it looks like the situation is worsening as the flood waters are cold and are causing hypothermia for many victims.

A breached levee in Trion, GA prompted evacuation of nearly 1,500 people, and many areas have had their power supplies disturbed or cut. Meteorologists say the flood is due to a phenomenon called “Training” where high-yield thunderstorms repeatedly strike an area.

Schools, colleges and universities across the flooded state remained closed, and residents have been advised to stay off the roads. Governor of Georgia, Sonny Purdue has declared a state of emergency, and he will ask President Barack Obama to declare a federal emergency as well.

Below are photos of the roller coasters at Six Flags Amusement Park.

Austell, Georgia -- Across the South massive floodwaters are receding but residents must now deal with the destruction to their homes and schools.
The skies have cleared over the Atlanta area and the water is starting to recede. Only now are residents here getting a good look at what was lost.
Bill Howell's house in the northwest part of the city is coated with mud. He had put all the furniture up on paint buckets in case it was as bad as hurricane Ivan five-years ago. "We've done everything we can possibly do and we thought we were doing right because of what happened before. And then we've never seen anything like this."
The death toll across the southeast now stands at 10. One of those was 2-year-old Slade Crawford. His body was found hours after a surging stream tore open his family's mobile home. "I told Slade it would be alright and I loved him and we would make it but we didn't make it," said Craig Crawford.

Families said they are eager to get their children back into the school routine to get their minds off the flooding. But many believe after two floods in five-years, a small school in Austell will not be rebuilt.
As for roads and freeways that had been closed, many were reopened by Tuesday night. Even as the water level drops, bridges remain a major structural concern. "If you look closely, you'll see there are cracks on both sides of the bridge. We're going to be shut down for at least the next couple weeks," said Garrin Coleman with the Sandy Springs Public Works department.
The flood warnings were supposed to expire Tuesday night. But because many creeks and streams are still above flood stage, those warnings remain in effect for the time being.

Crazy weather in all sorts of places it seems. Horrible to be caught in.

I'm afraid we can all expect more of this sort of thing.

Makes you wonder what happened to all the theme parks in Japanese right now, huh? Did anyone see the huge truck accident that happened on the beach there? It's all over youtube. The guy basically floated out to sea. Pretty scary stuff.

Yes indeed. Mother Nature can sure cause some immense damage. Whole villages can disappear.
