We have bumped this trip to September due to work. Soooooooooooooo I have longer to research. Good lord whatever did we do prior to the internet. I have found sooo much out online. Great travel advise and tips and info everywhere whoooo hooooo.
My next dilema is take a tour or tour on our own. I like the tour on our own thing as we can take our time and we can get side tracked and not worry. Our current plan is Rome, Florence (and Pisa), Venice then last nite back to Rome and with luck we can stay in a higher end hotel for one night just to say we did. However there are some mighty tempting tours out there that allow us to see way more places... hmmm quantity or quality? What to do, what to do.

Could you do both? Join some tours at the beginning of your trip and visit other places on your own in a hire car at the end of your trip? or vice versa?
Have a wonderful, wonderful time. I was just reading a book on Rome and wishing I could go. Have a fab time. Eat lots of pizza and gelati and bring back lots of piccies.
