The election that is taking place right now in America is one of the biggest and most important elections that I can remember. It is one that will be spoken about in history books in years to come.
Over the past few months there have been many debates and discussion on this topic, there has been slagging and arguments and fun. But in the moment of truth, America, you are our friends and we hope that whoever your new President will be when the ballots are counted, that they will provide you with what you are looking for.
We wish you the best.
Good Luck

Thank you and you are invited over for some birthday cake. Hubs birthday today. I was joking with him and said "I'm getting a pic on your cake of Obama on one side & McCain on the other". He thought I was joking which I am.

Lines are long here is some areas of Baltimore at the voting venues-2 3/4 hours wait in line up in the city. This election has a great turnout so far!

I got up early and voted, I figured a lot of people would wait until they got their kids off to school, waited about 15 minutes whoo hoo..

That seems to be the beauty of it! At least people are getting out there and having their say! Well done folks!

Apparently in Pennsylvania you must hit the green button on the bottom of the voting screen or it won't count.

Yes, Milkennie is right, your our friends over there and we are yours despite all of the arguing and slagging each other off, its been fascinating to watch this from the outside, and hopefully it will help the country in entering a new and better era, whichever side you are on. Good luck America.

President McCain, please may i be the first to offer my heartist congratulations at the landslide victory over Obama, your opponent. Your true grit, determination and experience paid off.
Britain knows we are all in the safest of hands with you in the Whitehouse. God Bless you John McCain.

Yes, President McCain of the Arizona State Golf Association, enjoy your retirement. :p
Anyway, this is a bipartisan (as they say over there) thread, stop with the party politicals Oscar, I am afraid your just going to have to wait for the UKIP to make it to the European Commission before you will have a chance to get excited again. DAMN EUROCRATS, TRYING TO ORGANIZE THINGS RATIONALLY, GOD BLAST THEM! BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Irish Village of Moneygall, Co. Offaly, is throwing a party tonight for long-lost son and new President of America: BARAK OBAMA!
This picture is brilliant, says it all really. :wah:
Of course Americans know that despite the, ahem, "problems" of the last few years, we Irish don't hate them, we still love em, sure we are related to half of them, (and they are mostly married to the other half of them that we aren't related to), the rest of them come from Cork.

By the way, like many people over this side of the atlantic, I will be up till all hours of the morning watching this election as it comes in. So, if I come on here delirious from lack of sleep and far too much TV-watching, then you know whats going on.
The whole civilized world is actually watching this one you realize?, no pressure then.

WOW, almost 3 hours, uggg! :wah:
We just got back from an overnight stay at our Casino, & on our way home we passed our voting polls. Just drove up right in front of the building to an open parking space. Walked inside, (no lines) waited less than a minute, was given new voting sheet, walked to little privacy booth, filled in choices, then took sheet to collecting/counting machine, deposited sheet, and was done. Whole process took less the 5 minutes!!!
