The ancient pagans celebrated the Winter Solstice, (Dec. 21st)
Moreover, the Christmas tree was also used to scare away evil forces for the new year.
After the beginning of the New Year, January 1, the Pagans would take the chopped decorated Christmas tree down.
If they neglected to take the tree down that house would be visited by satanic ghouls that would terrorize the family for the remainder of the year.
Maybe next year you will follow the rules !

I do the same thing, chonsi. My tree is small and in the front yard of the dollhouse Hubby made for me years ago.
Nomie.
I fear no evil.

Mine is half way... the baubles and tinsel are off it and in neat piles on the floor. The tree still has its lights on and the needles - in the heat - are increasingly falling onto the carpet... Maybe this arvo.....
The strings of cards are down and I need to go through them properly and carry on the conversations starting or continuing in them.. grin.
Twelfth Night, Feast of the Epiphany etc is when traditionally the decorations should come down.
One year I found my Christmas wreath still on the apartment door the following September.

Mine is still on the door. It's wintery. And pretty. And with all the snow.....why not?
