Any dog lovers who pray...
Could you please send some up for my friend's girl dog Dena, who is
very, very sick. The vets are doing every thing they can but they
don't know what is wrong.
She is only 4 years old.
Thank you.

She apparently ate some sort of small mammal a couple of weeks ago,
they have squirrels in the back yard but she's not out there unless her
mom and dad are so they don't know how/when she got it.
She has been terribly anemic and has gotten 2 transfusions already,
one from her brother Keefer... it brought her count up a little but
not enough, she is due to have another today. She did rally a little
bit last week, but now she isn't eating, has fluid in her belly, diarrhea,
and vomiting.
They are talking about taking her to UCDavis.
She is on massive doses of steroids and antibiotics, which they will now
probably have to do IV.
The worst is the not knowing and that you can't tell Dena why you
have to do all this...

perhaps whatever she ate was diseased.
best to take her to more qualified people!

My thoughts and prayers are being sent. I agree with Odie only the experts are going to find out what happened and how to treat it.

No, actually, she wasn't... she had been sick for over a week by
then... she had gotten a little better, temperature dropped etc.
but her mom thought better not bring her and overdo it...
Dena and little brother Keefer got to go to sooooo many places,
even an Oakland A's baseball game.
These first days after losing a beloved pet are so hard, so very
hard. And there's nothing you can do but wait it out.
