Didn't the dixie chicks get banned from american radio for making anti-war comments or something? It's not just china where the powers that be try and stifle opposing voices america has a long track record of banning songs and films deemed unpatriotic or inappropriate and your own human rights record isn't exactly one to be proud of.

A few years ago, I saw a defence of the Chinese occupation of Tibet on the grounds that the English were hypocritical to complain given our occupation of Wales...

The crowd: "Yes! We are all individuals!"
Lone voice: "I'm not."

They didn't get banned, Some right wingers boycotted them but there was no ban what so ever.
