These gems are little individual works of art! How could anyone possibly use one of these matches? The cover designs are novel and eye-catching enough but it's the perfect little matches themselves that fascinate me.

I've never seen anything like these! What a clever idea, I wish they still made these (even though I don't smoke.)

Silly thing is, when I moved into the flat there were several books of matches - I used them.

Looks as though I made a boo-boo.

Valerie, where do you get them? Are some businesses still handing them out or are yours vintage and you're getting them at flea markets or antique stores? I'd love to see them!

Well they are vintage I'd guess you could say, but not THAT old. Maybe

'70's and 80's and I got them all waaaay back when they were passed

out at whatever establishment it was. Geez I remember when there were

BOWLS full of them at places.

I might have some time tomorrow to get them out, I know right where they are.

Okay, here they are, not as great a way to see them, but

it would be a bit problematic trying to get close-ups of each.

If you look closely, one of my faves is in the upper right of

the right hand rack, it is from the California Highway Patrol.

I thought it was pretty funny they gave out matches, but I

guess it's better than shot glasses with a CHP logo!

Another one I really like is harder to see, it is on the left hand

side, upper bar, it is from California Limousine Company, and

from a car I rented to go to a company Christmas party one

year.

Great collection, val! I like the one with the whale on the front and just went back to take a second look but can't find it. I think I need more coffee!
