Did you have a favourite as a child ? Ahhh the days when the whole family sat around when I was a kid and we played Totopoly, The Horse Racing board game.

What did you play?

We played checkers, Monopoly, Life, Sorry, Card games like War (Rummy with Grandma), me & dad played chess. Oh, Careers. Bought all these same games for my son. My first game was Candyland, as was his. My father & I played Dice (would lose my 5 cents! allowance every week, which I only got if I took some smelly thing everyday---cod liver oil?---it was awful)

Sorry is like Chinese Checkers, which we also played. My older sister made up a lot of games, like we would throw all toys on the floor & "fish" for them with strings that had hooks.

& a lot of games were made up by us & friends. I still love board games.

Monopoly was a regular in our family.

Dad's family had one of the first edition game boards.

Chinese Checkers, and Parchis were other games we played. And Chess.

Your sister's games sound like a lot of fun!

My favourite as a youf was Risk

But I was brought up on card games - crib, whist, solo and, later on, bridge. Kept me quiet for hours :-)

Monopoly!! My cousin and I used to stay up half the night sometimes playing Monopoly! There's also a game that a lot of us play around here, I've been playing it since my daddy taught me as a child, it's called Rook. :)

mmm we never really played board games. Bits were always missing.

My mum never liked board games, because when she was little and her dad lost at playing a board game, he used to chuck the whole game though the room.. Bad case of sore loser syndrome.

We played cards instead. Mostly blackjack, or Rummy.

The Rook game that I referred to earlier actually is a card game so I guess it doesn't count as a board game. :)
