Can we be pro-troops and anti-war?

For the past 6 or 7 years we've heard people say that it is impossible to support the troops and be against the Iraq war - that the two are inseparable.

If you feel that way, I have a question:

If Obama decided to send troops to Honduras to reinstate their president, would you suddenly be on the side of Hugo Chavez, or would the troops become evil killers? Or would you support the troops yet be against how the administration decided to use them?

my daughter is in your army

if she falls in the field i would hate it even more for it to be invading some back alley dust bowl of a country where the army had no legal right to be there

but if some country was invading the states i would find her death easier to take as that is what she signed up for

Yes, the pajama coup guy.

I think Obama should keep out of Honduras.

It seems pretty unstable down there at the moment.

America and Britain should keep out. There is far too much going on with Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan. I think there comes a time where you have to draw the line some-where. These countries such as Honduras have a habit of sorting themselves out.

I support our troops but i am totally against them being in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Exactly my point. Thank you. I stayed out of these types of conversations because of my own ambivalence. This scenario hopefully sheds light on the fallacy that we can't reject one without rejecting both.

I do too, but an invasion would not in the slightest reduce my love, admiration, and gratitude for the American Soldier.

They always have been two totally separate questions - you can believe that the troops are the best and they are doing a fantastic job in terrible circumstances showing tremendous courage whilst still believing that the bastards that sent them there should be tried as war criminals.

If Obama sent troops to invade Honduras then I would hold him responsible for war crimes - just as I do Bush and Blair.
