The hypocrisy of the religious

May 23, 2019 - 10:44 AM - by gmc

"I don't agree that you get to choose which equality you can and can't have."

Got to be one of the best one liners I've heard a politician come out with. I'm fed up with the religious demanding resoect for their beliefs but refusing to... [Read More]

Costa Rica in mid-November, which coast first?

May 17, 2019 - 3:34 AM - by hardus77
Hello all

We'll be travelling to Costa Rica (first trip to the Americas, yay) next November for a 3-week trip.

Since we have a fair amount of time, for the first time my main questions are not about what to see but in which order. We are flying in and out from SJO, so logistically speaking the first idea is to do a circular route.

Fascism in the UK

Methinks we are in the middle of a fascist takeover of our political system. Sadly nitb seems the once supposedly impartial bbc is anything but impartial anymore.

Freddie Starr RIP

May 10, 2019 - 4:44 AM - by spot
spot's Avatar
I am moderately certain I never saw Freddie Starr perform, neither on stage nor on television. I'm moderately certain I never heard him sing on the radio. I suspect I have him in the same mental compartment in which I keep Bernard Manning and Jim Davidson.

I'm sorry he was hounded out of the country. The press creates and the press destroys, long live tabloids so long as I never have to pick one up.

The English are in many ways an unattractive people.

So, finally, all the health emergencies have been dealt with, and the SunDancer is fully functional, and we are heading off on a wandering.
I will be dropping in now and again to see how things at FG are going, but will probably not be too regular for a while.

We plan to avoid the big cites and Cold weather.
I'll let y'all know how that works out.

Gavin Williamson has strenuously denied he leaked information from the National Security Council as calls are being made for a police inquiry.

He was sacked as defence secretary for allegedly disclosing plans to allow Chinese telecoms giant Huawei to help build the UK's 5G network.

City of Los Angeles hostile to Civil Liberties

The city of Los Angeles decided to eliminate the Natural, Civil and Constitutional Rights of many of its citizens, that being the right to assemble and petition the government. This is not so much about the NRA but the arrogant City Council of Los Angeles.

I can just imagine the outrage had the action been taken against any number of activities organizations.

Special news report the cathedral was going through a renovation could be a contributor to the structure fire.
flames are 250 foot high - doesn't look as if any attempt is being made to fight the fire.

I haven't looked for a link - watching special news report.

We went out to dinner on a Saturday night - restaurants are very busy - check in get a beeper. We're seated dinner is delicious. The workers are setting up tables for a large group.
When here it comes - a parade of young ladies in their gowns and the young men in beautiful suits - it was sweet.
I had a flash back - way back (1974) when I was 16 yrs. old in my gown for my Prom.

Did you attend a Prom - if not why?

Good cameras?

Apr 11, 2019 - 1:04 AM - by faisalahmed
Well here is my story. I've never really been into photography or anything of that nature. But my dad decodes about 2-3 years ago that he doesn't want to pay 800-1000 for a professional photographer to take pictures at my sisters Quincenera. So he goes out and buys a Sony DSLR a100.

Medical Marijuana - Tax Deduction ?

Tax Time.. Woohoo

I'm asking - here in AZ you have to qualify for a medical marijuana card.

In the state of Washington - marijuana stores are on every corner - take your I.D. and purchase as if your at any other convenience store.

Medical costs are a deductible so I'm asking is or should medical marijuana be a deductible?

What do you say?

That's what the BBC reporters claim anyway.
Not surprisingly, militaries across the world are also backing research in to quantum sensing.

Gravimeters in particular offer the potential for detecting your opponent's submarines, for instance. Gravity may be a weak force, but you can't shield against it.

So while stealth

old scientific electronics

Mar 12, 2019 - 9:45 AM - by vallero
I am a new member, (as in 20 minutes). I don't know if this the forum that I looking for, but it looked promising. A friend has been a collector of scientific instruments such as tube based electronics, vacuum systems etc. for many years. Being ancient (circa 1970) and tube based whether they will function or not is debatable. However he no longer wants them and they are free to anyone who wants them, and of course the recipient prepares and pays all shipping costs. That is something to... [Read More]
