Forum: The Pets In Our Lives

Discussions about your pets!

  1. Forum Garden posters tend to have no time for Pets .

It says there have been no posts in this section since August 2018 . What does that say? That the vast majority of posters are very lazy , middle age or older men . Or , by coincidence , those that had pets all lost them around that time and are still too grief stricken to open up...

  2. Marley

Started with 15 feral cats. Patty the care giver adopted all. With the cooperation of a local vet who gave a discount they all were spayed or neutered. It is natural that cats would disappear in a rural area next to a highway. Patty built a cat house with electric heating blanket. Let’s just say...

  4. newfies

Yesterday i sent my application off to the Newfoundland rescue service. I havent had much luck with our little puppy friends in the last decade. It was suggested to me to get a dog that i really really want rather than a dog to fill in time waiting for a dog i really really want. So ive bitten...

  5. Animal Rescues

I'd like to think that for every story of animal neglect or cruelty there's a counter-story that shows the flip-side and somehow even in some small way deflects the harshness that we often see in the world. This story of a dog rescuing and adopting a kitten is great and I'm so glad they're staying...

  6. Our Dog Sally

Wasn't long ago we had to put our Labrador down. The Mrs and I always had a dog or two around so it was only a matter of time before we got another. What we wanted was an older dog that we would outlive. After some time we the local Humane Society referred us to a couple who for whatever reason...

  9. 10 years old Puppy

My Puppy ~~ Zeus! Yesterday was his annual physical and it was determined his heart is strong, eyes bright, ears good, teeth white and no signs of hip or joint problems! He has been having an issue with his paw (from all the ice and snow) and he did let the vet examine it and nothing...

  11. 10 Breeds of Dogs That Are not Trendy

I'm somewhat familiar with most of these and I thought some were fairly common like the cockapoo & labradoodle. One or two were in fact new to me like the Canis Panthera. I'd hate to have one of those mad at me! :yh_ooooo I think the Shiloh Shepherd and the Estrela Mountain dog are both...

  14. Favorite Pet Toys

My best friend, Warren, has a house cat named Jack. I take care of Jack when Warren is out of town on vacation. I came up with a brilliant idea last Christmas and bought Jack a present, a ZuZu. It's a mechanical Hamster that runs around the room screaming a variety of things that causes Jack to...

  15. Dog Park #1

Have you ever journeyed down a road whose aura captures you? The sensations engulf you? It exists to be your favorite as it connects you to some where special. Is it the change in temperature, the dancing shadows of the trees, the winding of the narrow road, and the anticipation of adventure? I...

  16. Bad kitty!!

Last night about 10:30 I was in bed reading, just about to put the light out when I hear this HORRENDOUS crash that sounded like it came from the kitchen. Jump up to investigate, and oh my goodness what a mess! Apparently kitty Lola (does this flower pot make my hips look big?) had jumped up...

  17. Had to put my dog down last night.

Quite an emotional roller-coaster. Our little dog went from being reasonably normal to barely able to move and not being able to eat anything since Sunday. Had her on IV and massive amounts of anti-biotics at the animal hospital but she wasn't improving. She was only semi-coherent. If I left her...

  19. Dogs as slaves

You're a smart man, Spot. I've been observing my relationship with my dogs and I've got to agree its one of slave and master. Funny, I've never recognized it before. Its only since I've been trying to understand how they see me that that has become evident. I'd like to believe its...

  20. Can You Judge A Cat By Its Color?

What do you think? Any set notions? There's bound to be some personality characteristics that are prevalent in specific cat breeds but as far as your average domestic short hair, do you tend to judge them by color or markings? Can You Judge A Cat By Its Color?...
