If you have a credit card, do you pay an annual fee for it?

  2. Question Should I keep bread in an air tight box? Not the fridge?

I have been keeping a loaf of bread in the fridge to keep it fresh. But when I use it it's a bit hard, so should I keep my next loaf in an air tight box, or will it go mouldy? :-3

  4. Pressure washer or washer attachment?

Looking to get a pressure washer but I also see a pressure washer attachment for air compressors? I also see electric washers that attach a regular electric motor to the gas powered pumps in place of a gas motor? Are these any good or stay with a dedicated gas powered unit?

  5. Would you complain?

We bought a new sofa, it was delivered today. On the middle seat the leather has a very small 'nick' in it so it looks like a white spot. I would say its not screamingly obvious but i do notice it. My husband will say i'm being overly fussy and not to bother about it. Would it bother you, would...

We have a small mortgage, if we sold the house and moved further north where property is cheaper we could buy outright and be mortgage free. pro's - We love the scenery further north and its closer to places Andy likes to dive, we have some friends up north and a nephew. con's - It would...

  7. Winter Drafts

3M makes a window treatment for drafts coming in. I applied this to the sliding glass doors in my man cave and I was amazed at the amount of air coming in and by the comfortable temperature in that room now. The cold air is trapped and can no longer enter my dwelling. Cheap too.

  8. Cash for Caulkers could mean $12K per home

President Obama proposed a new program Tuesday that would reimburse homeowners for energy-efficient appliances and insulation, part of a broader plan to stimulate the economy. The administration didn't provide immediate details, but said it would work with Congress on crafting legislation. Steve...

  10. Surviving the nuclear exchange

I was, oddly enough, a trainee member of the UK's Civil Defence Corps. It had an underground emergency communications floor on Regent Street where I put in an evening a week learning how the people of Britain might survive a nuclear attack. Time's gone full circle. What was relevant back then is...

  11. Window Washing

I just washed our outside windows for the first time in months (least favorite chore) and used the xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx for the first time. Has anyone else tried this yet? It was so easy - spray the window, wipe it with the cleaning pad and then rinse it off. It didn't take long at all and didn't...

  13. Wood Floors - How do I get the shine back?

We had wood floors installed at our home and I'm just wondering what is a good product or a homemade one of making them shine like they did when we first put them in. They seem dull. All suggestions welcome.

  14. Question Green Renovations - worth the $?

I've been working on this video series about eco-friendly/energy efficient home renovations, and I was wondering...have any of you made changes to your house (like switching to compact-fluorescent light bulbs, energy efficient appliances, etc.)?

  15. Ants

We are getting ants indoors, they seem to be coming up from under the floor boards. They are the common British black ant. We are unable to lift the floor boards as we have only recently had them put down and are the 'tongue and groove' type (oak and cost a fortune). As we have a cat we cannot...

  18. Real Estate Question

They have a deal now I haven't heard of. Our builder, being the seller, is willing to pay 3% to a buyer's agent even though we found the place ourselves. The sales agent (employee of the builder) tells me that she gets her commission, regardless. The 3% is usually used to strike a deal with a real...
