The Elected Representatives (Prohibition of Deception) Bill
<t>Did anyone catch the "Ministry of Truth" doc (they asked various MPs 'should our elected representatives be more honest and accountable?'? It was thoroughly thought provoking and lucid. Now the creators of the "Ministry of Truth" are going to try to get the Elected Representatives (Prohibition of ...

<r>Ok, your responses are great, and I agree with a lot of what you are saying. However, it disturbs me when I read about cases such as the Elizabeth Filkin affair. She is the ex-commissioner for parliamentary standards who was hounded out of her job by 'important' figures within parliament after ...

Should politicians be more honest and accountable?
I posted this topic up a few days ago but couldn't find the thread and assumed it had been deleted, and as I wanted to discuss it properly, I thought it would be a good idea to post it up again. Do you have a link to the post I made a few days ago or any thoughts on the topic?

Should politicians be more honest and accountable?
Did you know that in the UK there isn't a law to prosecute politicians when they are found to have knowingly deceived the public? In my mind this amounts to a fundamental gap in the UK political system. Thoughts?

<t>Does anyone have any favourite iconic images of musicians? I really like some of the photos of Lennon, Dylan and Hendrix that are around (I'd post them up but I can't yet!). <t>I agree, sharedfastlane. Young people shouldn't be daunted by politics but should be encouraged to get involved - it is important that they realise they can make a change. Have you heard about the school lottery system? I think it is only used in certain areas but it basically means that final ...

<t>I feel the same way, I'm usually reluctant to ally myself with any particular movement simply because I'm very indecisive and not particularly dogmatic when it comes to issues such as these. I know, it's terrible! Just watched the interview with Peter Bottomley, he's very critical of the No.10 gang. Have you got any ideas as to whom they should approach for support of the 'Misrepresentation of the People act'?
