    Songs from Canada

Thinking of some beautiful music from my Canadian friends

I love a Candadian group called "Ian and Sylvia" and would love to share some of their songs. Hope that you can add some music from other groups that I don't know...

    Songs.....

    Re: Songs from Canada

In 2005, CBC Radio had their listeners choose the best Canadian songs of all time.

Usually, these lists are pretty lame, but the CBC list has an amazing cross-section of music, and I personally believe all the songs should be there.

(I happen to agree with the choice of song for first place. )

Given the fact that you are an Ian & Sylvia fan, I've put an asterisk after the songs I think would most appeal to you.

    Re: Songs from Canada

Ian & Sylvia Tyson had several hits in the sixties.

They have been divorced for many years now, but they have continued with solo careers.

Ian is a gentleman rancher in Alberta now, but he still records and performs. He released a new album last year.

Sylvia had a successful solo career in the seventies, and she mainly performs and records these days with the group "Quartette", along with Caitlin Hanford, Cindy Church, and Gwen Swick.

Some contemporary Canadian artists (not on the CBC list) you may enjoy :

    Leslie Feist
    Sarah Harmer
    Ron Sexsmith
    Kathleen Edwards

I dont really see why Canada should get its own "special" area here.
Isnt this just enabling them to feel superior ?
