Indeed. Meanwhile the government goes ahead and puts €7,000,000,000 into 2 banks, and we have no real idea what the state of the losses that either of these banks face is. So we are getting a load of money and throwing it at a problem, that we have no idea of the scale of, and we have to...wait for it....

Trust the banks, that they are being honest.....

Well then, no problem there, as our financial institutions are as honest as the day is long aren't they?

    Didn’t you hear?
4 hours after deal was signed with the banks, Bank of Ireland stated that it has under estimated its bad debts and they could be as high as €6 billion… well we now know how they will be blowing the €3.5 billion the government has given them.

Simple, cut the lawyers fees by 50 percent, but under no circumstances allow them to wrap the tribunals up without coming to any conclusions, thats what they were intended to do, bury the truth, we need them to come to conclusions now more than ever. The Greens are adamant that the tribunals be completed and on this, I am in agreement with the Greens.

As for what is happening now, we don't need tribunals, we need the Fraud Office, Interpol, and the CAB.

We also need the President to dissolve this dail, though its probably already to late for that 7,000,000,000 euro's worth of money, oh we are going to miss that money so much when it becomes apparent its been thrown away, which is precisely what's been done.

I have no confidence in this government with Fianna Fail in power, its a farce, they need to be gotten rid of.

What a surprise, of course the minister was only acting on "information available at the time" i.e yesterday.

    Liars liars liars.

Re: Ireland, still the greatest little country in the world.

Well, they have done it, they have thrown away another 7 billion on bailing out banks that have fundamentally lost the confidence of the markets, the shareholders, and the Irish people.

We have no idea of how bad the bad debts of these banks are, and we are not allowed to know, despite the fact that we are paying to pay off their debts. They "promise" that they will "help" all the people now about to go to the wall, yeah, thanks guys, what a swell bunch you are.

They talk about capping salaries and eliminating bonuses, but no mention of anyone facing anything more than a stiff talking to, and then a brandy and a cigar. Then its off to Chapter One or Tosca for some Filet Mingon.

Then the Chairman of the Board of IL&P decides to offer his resignation, but the board won't accept it, despite allowing their bank to be involved in one of the most shameful episodes in Irish financial history.

Anglo Irish Bank still sits there Sphinx-like, its still in operation, despite being exposed as an organization that was fundamentally unsound and corrupt, why has it not already been closed down?

Fianna Fail are now down to 22 percent in the opinion polls, and go down to the third party below labour.

    Bring on the next election.
