I think it's a bit over-rated really and far too commercialised. I'm so glad i've gone beyond having a young family at Christmas. I suppose I must be getting old, because I can remember the great fun we had when my son was still believing in Father Christmas. It was quite magical really. These days I prefer to have a quiet Christmas and chill out with a drop of brandy in one hand and a mince pie in the other !

Mind you, this year I think things will be a bit different somehow. We've been invited to some friends for Christmas day and stopping over-night to enjoy finishing up the cold cuts and wine on Boxing day ! There will be a houseful with their daughter and her children and hubby - we calculated 15 ! It's a good job there's a fairly capacious conservatory !
    I'm a Saga-lout, growing old disgracefully

I had to book my guests back in June, just to make sure they could come here.

awe Betty with luck one year it will be fun, for both you and the kids.

Gill, yes I have magical memories from my childhood Christmas times.
They were so fun, lots of family, lots of food, drink, of course gifts but it's not the gifts I remember it's the family time. The joy, the love.

The Missus and I are still way behind with the basket order for Easter. No Xmas celebrations for us. Can't be helped.

Any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental.
