Oh I love Travis and Texas too! Would like to go see both play. Didn't realise how many good bands come from Scotland. You play the guitar...fantastic I have recently aquired myself an acoustic and a learn to play the guitar book and cd and wow, didn't realise how hard it was to play. I would love to play 'time of your life' by Green Day. If I can get that good I would be very happy indeedy.

Aha! Reah Gone Kid! Thats the one!!

    Breed 77 ~ The River.

I've just been introduced to them and I'm really liking them, especially this song.

How 'r ye, Galbally. ....don't know if comment type posts are frowned upon in this thread, but I'll take the chance.

I've been a huge fan of Steely Dan for a very long time, have all the vinyl, ...and like yourself, the best off, & the remastered cd's . I saw Becker & Fagan play in Glasgow last time they were here, and it was a stunning concert, and with a band that were capable of staggering musicianship, and it was displayed effortlessly that night.

No, they're not gods, but their ability can hardly be classed as mere mortal either. Its not pure jazz, its not straight rock, its that rare blend of both, and like all world class acts, their songs are signature to themselves, and to have continued in this vein without any sign of loss of focus, or quality, is remarkable.

SnoozeControl , and I were talking about something months ago. Music that has a lasting quality, with invention and originality, sometimes will need a host to those unaware that its out there. Your post in this thread, and your quote that it's 'Top stuff"...is sometimes all that's needed to point anyone, *perhaps younger*, who's looking for some alternative listening. that has a history, to what's in the album charts.

Hi clancy, I know exactly what you mean. I'm a musician myself and the day I learned how to play Haitian Divorce I knew that I was doing things right, its like hitting the motherlode or something, very hard to explain.

They may not be gods, but they're as close as popular musicians ever get to it.

Simon and Garfunkel's America playing in the background as part of a film soundtrack. I'd forgotten what a beuatiful song it it.

It's so true how you can forget such wonderful songs and it's such a delight when you put them on again.
