    Ya Gotta Love This Guy

A native son takes charge in Gulf Coast
Bluff general invigorates hurricane relief effort.
By Patrik Jonsson | Correspondent of The Christian Science Monitor

CAMP SHELBY, MISS. – He's known for his searing one-liners; a relentless schedule that allows only two hours of sleep a night; and a growly, commanding presence. He's also in charge of the military's response to hurricane Katrina. If that superstorm now rivals the 9/11 terror attacks on the scale of national disasters, then First Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré has emerged as the Rudy Giuliani of the Gulf Coast.
A rough-talking Louisiana native, he is credited with changing the character of the relief effort from a mad scramble to an increasingly orderly and effective rescue and restoration. But General Honoré is also having to navigate a fine line between necessary leadership and the specter of federal troops using force against American citizens. So far, he appears to have succeeded.

This is what was missing at the beginning clint. someone to instill the 'it's going to be alright, i'm here now' feeling.
You got the sense, the first day he showed up, that things could work now. He demanded it.

Gotta love the folks who serve with dedication to the mission.

When we look back on Katrina we will remark that is was a good thing that he was sent there so quickly. As time moves on and we have better perspective when it comes to when things happened and why.

Never fear, the Coast Guard is here. Having a CG Admiral in command makes great sense. The CG works with civilians and disasters every day. I almost jumped to attention when they showed him on TV.
