missing adults

Post by teramiabullfrog »

13,100 new missing adult cases were filed in the hurricane affected areas, bringing the total number of reported missing adults to over 50,000 (over 30,000 missing for more than one year (source: National Clearinghouse for Missing Adults - NCMA). Once again I lay down the gauntlet, and present those of you living in the United States with a challenge: go to your local Post Office, see if they have a display area to view missing person notices (as required by the NALC/USPS CHILD ALERT PROGRAM), reply your finding back to this thread alolng with the zip-code of the Post Office. All information will be documented and given to a national all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity, made up of families who have a missing child, (who's funding comes from individuals, families, and small businesses - no federal funding). Volunteers of this charity have gone to over 2,000 Post Offices in nine states, and not only documented the fact: only five of 2,000 had any missing person flyers displayed, they also left a 3-ring display binder, with over 50 sheet protectors, containing multiple photo flyers of over 200 missing persons, on display in the lobby of the Post Offices. This was done while the volunteers traveled from County Fair to County Fair, where the set-up a Mobile Awareness Center about child abduction prevention and help find missing children issues. This community has the opportunity to make the world a better place, get involved with this effort. Getting the fed government to maximize the efficiency level of existing national Programs to the level of efficiency they were originally intended, is the goal. These annual federal funded Programs not only need to be upgraded and advanced, they also need to be adopted on local levels. For more information about the Fed Programs, both to help find and to help prevent missing persons, go to the web sites of: the Congressional Caucus on Missing Children, the National Center for Missing and Exloited Children, the Nartional Clearinghouse for Missing Adults, and the NALC/USPS CHILD ALERT PROGRAM. We have the support and appreciation of over 26 million relatives of reported missing persons living in the United States. For those of you living somewhere other than the U.S., the International Clearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) is adopting many of the missing person laws and Programs currently existing in the U.S. Send us a reply and let us know if Post Offices in other countries are displaying missing person notices. This can be accomplished, with the support and help from people worldwide.

One of the heaviest annual federal funded help prevent missing children Program, is the BE SMART KNOW THE RULES CAMPAIGN. The four rules being taught nationwide, and globally, and are being endorsed by the Congressional Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children:

1. NEVER GO ALONE, CONSCIOUSLY PLAN AHEAD TO HAVE A FRIEND

WITH YOU WHEREVER YOU GO.

2. LET A TRUSTED ADULT KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING, AND WHEN

YOU GET THERE.

3. IF YOU FEEL THREATENED SAY "NO" AND TELL AN ADULT YOU

TRUST

4. IF YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE OR CONFUSED, GET AWAY FROM THAT

SITUATION.

Education about these four rules is one of the tools in helping prevent child abductions. Local communities need to adopt this federal Program. The Four Rules should be posted in public libraries, school libraries, broadcast periodically in local newspapers and on local cable television channels. Get involved, this is one issue and problem a vast majority of people feel the same about, so something can be done to fix the problem. The only people that oppose these Programs are the sexual predators preying on children. Please help, check your Post Office, reply back with your findings.
