Need Costume Ideas!

Post by flopstock »

The nine year old was a maple leaf- last year... we need ideas for this year!

All i've come up with so far(that she likes) is a shoe box..

So, come on folks help us out! Give us some workable ideas!:-6

Milk Carton: Be the missing person on the milk carton! Wear a long sleeved white shirt and white pants or a leotard and tights. Spray paint a large box white. Cut out arm and leg holes. Paint MILK in large letters on both the front and the back sides. Enlarge a photo of yourself, a family member or a friend and affix it to the back. In large black letters write the word, MISSING. Slip into a pair of white tennis shoes and paint your face white.

Spider: Think Black widow! For this costume, you'll need a black hooded sweatshirt; a pair of black pants or sweats; and black socks or booties. You'll also need 4 pairs of black tube socks or nylons. Stuff the tube socks with cotton batting, newspaper, or any material you can find to make the spider legs. Then sew the eight legs to the sides of the black outfit. Paint eyes on the top of the hood and a large red spot on the back (to get the Black Widow look.)

Close your eyes and imagine this... okay read this, then close your eyes and imagine this....

the top of the box is pushed off .... her body is a canvas tennis shoe.... her arms are the shoestring ties and her hands the little aglets...

it could work!

It's what we do.... she won 1st prize in the school with her maple leaf last year....

I think next year I'm gonna try and get the window painting detail and make her do the costume...:p:D

Either that or I'm gonna have to buy a sewing machine or something because those glue sticks only go so far...

The absolute coolest costume

1/2 bride and 1/2 the groom, very easy

white turtleneck long sleeve or t-shirt to start - split down the middle

Bride side;

decorate the bride side with frilly white wedding dress look attach to the bottom of shirt for the length- small train

small white vail hooked with a hair clip. one white glove

Groom side; - 1/2 of shirt - either apply with felt or draw

black jacket / lapel look with small boutoniere

you could draw or apply 1/2 of a tie, straight or bow

if 1/2 bow tie the other 1/2 white pearls or some white frilly decor.

On the back side -1/2 back & make a black tux tail

Bottom

easy with 1 leg with black tights - 1 leg white tights

1 black shoe and 1 white shoe

bottom line 1/2 of your daughter is as all in white

1/2 is all groom

don't forget 1/2 mustache 1/2 lipstick

this is so very easy one large shirt split & decorated.

good luck

I'd love to see pics later

Patsy

no sew - there's always that adhesive stitch witchery - bonds material, just iron

NEVER!!!

She had bought costumes until she was old enough to help make them..... same as it was for her older brother and sister..

Next thing you know, you will be suggesting we put up christmas ornaments that aren't hand made!:-2

A bag of jelly beans.

You'll need a clear garbage bag, ribbon, and small colored ballons.

Have your daughter wear a white or black sweat suit.

Take a clear gargage bag and cut out arm and neck holes to slip over her head. Don't make the arms holes too loose. Have her put the clear bag on, then loosely cinch the bag with the ribbon just below her waist. Leave the bag loose enough so you can stuff balloons up in it. Blow up and stuff enough balloons until you reach desire look, then tighten the bottom of the bag up with the ribbon and tie in a tight bow.

If done properly this is really cute. I would suggest experimenting first before trying to do this the night of Halloween.

If you are really crafty you can buy some of those peel and stick letters to decorate the bag up with.

any thought towards my Bride/groom idea? I see 1st place there..:wah:

actually your shoe box idea sounds very cute

Speaking of Boxes

any one see the box of OBAMA WAFFLES ??

true - Obama Waffles, a real waffle mix with OBAMA on the front & back of the box, cost $9.99 a box.
