Cutting Joblessness
Since the recession, the United States has been struggling with joblessness. How can we as a global society cut joblessness? Also, how do we reduce underemployment, where workers are earning too little money to pay living expenses?

I'm not sure that we're enough of a global society to tackle the problem globally - each country will have its own solution to its own problem.

Let them starve to death and the problem will sort itself out. Not a policy I would necessarily advocate but there are plenty who would.

It will take time (years) to really cut joblessness. Machines have replaced and will continue to replace labor intensive jobs. Retraining much of the workforce for positions that will be in demand is essential. Irrespective of what kind of Health Care the U.S. eventually winds up with there is no mystery about the increasing need for people in every aspect of the medical field. Pursuing the training required for the many positions that will be open would be a guarantee of employment and pay that would meet living expenses. Health Care is just one example of increasing need for employees, there are many other areas that trends show an increasing need. Young people looking to be employed had best avoid educational pursuits that though intellectually stimulating, will not result in meaningful employment.

The obvious problem is not making education affordable. Free education would fuel research and innovation...There's too many privatized schools that doesn't give incentives to graduates...More businesses need to develop there own school systems so that graduates can be guaranteed positions.
We live in a society that doesn't trust in the future anymore because we surpassed the the rate of new and revolutionary thinking...Everyone sits back waiting for some genius to invent something so they can pounce and ultimately copy there way to wealth, it's sick...

Sure, why not just make the whole globe one big planned community. We'll relocate each industry to the area that has the most raw materials & natural resources to support it, then test each person for intelligence & aptitude, assign the best job to fit them, and relocate them to that industry's area.
It'll be fun.

Another world war. Cull 1 to 2.5 billion people and all will be well. The only thing that got us out of the Great Depression was WWII.

It worked for the USSR after WWII, not the best way to do things but if you have no choice go for it. The only problem is switching over to another system when you need to.
