Bob Geldof, the Live organiser is planning a Dunkirk-type operation. He has called on the people to 'recreate Dunkirk' by sailing across the Channel and picking up French supporters of Live 8. His'Sail 8' initative will encourge ferry companies and small boat owners to transport people from the Continent to Britain. Once on British soil, they would travel north to attend a mass rally planned in Edinburgh before the G8 summit at Gleneagles.

The advent is expected to dwarf Live Aid, which was organised 20 years ago.

U2,Coldplay,Paul McCartney,REM,The Cure,Robbie Williams and Madonna are among the many acts which will perform at the live open air concert.

A TV audience of two billion is expected to watch the 16-hour spectacular events in Berlin, Paris,Rome and Philadelphia.
