I would've added this to RedGlitter's thread, but it's been closed. I hope no one will consider this 'stirring.'

What's interesting in this case is that the pet's owner is a convicted murderer already in prison. I had no idea prisoners were allowed to have pets, it seems situations like this would be expected.

What ever adds to this woman's suffering is fine by me. She is a cold blooded killer.

I don't think they allow that here in the states (but I could be wrong and I fully expect I'll hear about it) but I know of programs where prisoners help rehabilitate and train dogs. The prisoners are vetted before being allowed to participate and the dogs are only with them during the time provided for training.

I'd be concerned about small animals actually living in the prison.:(

Small animals are usually in cages anyway...that is kind of like a prison so I don't think that they would notice that their prison was within a prison.

Well yeah, there's that, but I meant more about being in close proximity to people not exactly known for being kind to people, much less to animals.

It's the first I've heard of inmates having a gineau pig, but I've heard that plenty of them have birds such as budgies.

First off I dont agree with prisoners having pets...dont even get me started cos id have most of the evil &*%$$$ confined 24/7 on a bread and water diet.

Secondly I think the fault lies with the government allowing the pets to be around murderers etc..What did they expect!!!!

Thirdly......Rose West is a vile woman and its a shame she didnt show that same compassion to the poor women and infact her own children.

Together with her husband Fred, she is believed to have tortured and murdered at least 12 young women, many at the couple's home in Gloucester, England.

The Wests had developed a habit of picking up girls from bus stops in and around Gloucester, England and imprisoning them in their home for several days before killing them.

Rose West had a voracious sexual appetite and enjoyed extreme bondage and sadomasochistic sex. She was bisexual, and many of their victims were picked up for her and her husband's sexual pleasure. West also worked as a prostitute. Two of her children were fathered by these clients, in April 1982 and July 1983.

Charmaine West, (the daughter of Fred's previous wife Rena), murdered in June 1971, was buried at the Wests' previous home of 25 Midland Road, Gloucester. One of the bodies found at Cromwell Street was that of their eldest daughter, Heather, who was murdered in June 1987.

Makes me sick how she the 'House of Horrors monster" is distraught after inmates murder her pet guinea pig' but treated her kids that way. She sexually abused her kids too.

Wow. She's got a TV and a DVD player?? What happened to chain gangs for killers?!

I'm sure a certain member will bait me with this, since he said he would, but I'll say it anyway, I hope whoever killed this guinea pig suffers some painful prison justice.

I do not agree with murderers having pets. At all.

I can see lesser criminals rehabbing dogs so they can get homes but violent sick people, no way.

Apparently the longer the prison sentence the more privilages they get.

Easier to control a prisoner serving 30 years if you offer them the chance of parole say after 10 years as if nothing is offered they have no reason to behave and so they are given rewards such as tv's dvd's etc to keep them sweet to give the prison and the prison officers/inamtes an easier life...SO IM TOLD!

Hate to disappoint but this woman obviously had severe mental issues before being allowed the responsibility of a pet. Don't get me wrong. There are lots of instances where being with animals can be the best thing for someone with mental health problems.

But I wouldn't have trusted Rose West with my houseplant.

I think prisoners have too many perks anyway. It's supposed to be jail for heaven's sake, not a vacation.
