post your favorite Christmas songs and carols here! when we get a lot of them, we'll have carol- singing in the pub, and a fire and hot chocolate and a buffet and cookies and hot buttered rum and roast reindeer (oops) :yh_star :yh_star :yh_star ....don't tell the grinch, but i love this one ~~~

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas

Just like the ones I used to know

Where the treetops glisten,

and children listen

To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas

With every Christmas card I write

May your days be merry and bright

And may all your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas

With every Christmas card I write

May your days be merry and bright

And may all your Christmases be white

This probably isn't appropriate.....but...what the heck!

When my kids were small they used to love singing:

Father Christmas, Father Christmas,

He got stuck, He got stuck,

Coming down the chimney, Coming down the chimney,

What Bad Luck! What Bad Luck!

And they used to LOVE shouting BAD LUCK at the end!

However, now they're a little older and their absolute FAVOURITE Crimbly song is the Monty Python song below:

Ho, ho f**kin' ho,

What a crock o' s**t!

We all work for Santa Claus,

We've 'ad enough, we quit!

Cos we do all the f**kin' work,

While 'ee stars in the show!

Stick yer Christmas up yer arse,

Ho ho f**kin' ho!

Extremely rude, but they think it is just hysterical! Kids! Lol!

Oh, LC I am so glad you started this thread!! It caused me to find a site on the net that listed all the carols.....and so began my time of reminiscing! Even got a little misty eyed remembering standing next to my mom/dad as a little girl at Xmas Eve services...singing "Come All Ye Faithful"...and dreaming of all the magic that awaited through the night to come!!! But that carol is not actually my favorite. It was HARD to choose just one, but..."Silent Night" won....

Silent Night

Silent night, holy night,

All is calm, all is bright

Round yon virgin mother and child.

Holy infant so tender and mild,

Sleep in heavenly peace.

Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night,

Shepherds quake at the sight,

Glories stream from heaven afar,

Heavely hosts sing alleluia;

Christ the Saviour, is born!

Christ the Saviour, is born!

Silent night, holy night,

Son of God, love's pure light

Radiant beams from thy holy face,

With the dawn of redeeming grace,

Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.

Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.

i know what you mean! this one always makes me sob! :-1 :-1 I'll be home for Christmas,

You can count on me.

Please have snow and mistletoe

And presents under the tree.

Christmas Eve will find me,

Where the love light gleams.

I'll be home for Christmas,

If only in my dreams.

Christmas Eve will find me,

Where the love light gleams.

I'll be home for Christmas,

If only in my dreams. :-1

Also wanted to add an honorable mention....In my young grade school years we had an African American man for our principal...He was a wonderful man and had such a positive influence on even the youngest! Every year at the Christmas carol assembly, they would always ask that we sing "Let There Be Peace On Earth" for him....it was his favorite carol. One year when sitting close enough, I saw a tear in his eye. I didn't understand then. But 30 yrs later it means so much. Here's for Mr. Schultz.......................

Let There Be Peace On Earth

Let There Be Peace on Earth and let it begin with me.

Let There Be Peace on Earth, the peace that was meant to be!

With God as our Father, brothers all are we.

Let me walk with my brother in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me. Let this be the moment now.

With ev'ry breath I take, let this be my solemn vow;

To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally!

Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me!

This song sung by John Barry is killer awesome, it is my fave song of all time

O Holy Night

O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,

It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.

Long lay the world in sin and error pining.

Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,

For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!

O night divine, the night when Christ was born;

O night, O holy night, O night divine!

O night, O holy night, O night divine!

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,

With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.

O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,

Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.

The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;

In all our trials born to be our friends.

He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,

Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another,

His law is love and His gospel is peace.

Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.

And in his name all oppression shall cease.

Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,

With all our hearts we praise His holy name.

Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,

His power and glory ever more proclaim!

His power and glory ever more proclaim!
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

I have a lot of favourites! This one always brings a smile to my face!

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul,

With a corncob pipe and a button nose,

And two eyes made out of coal.

Frosty the snowman is a fairy tale, they say,

He was made of snow but the children

know how he came to life one day.

There must have been some magic in that

Old silk hat they found.

For when they placed it on his head,

He began to dance around.

O, Frosty the snowman

Was alive as he could be,

And the children say he could laugh

And play just the same as you and me.

Thumpetty thump thump,

Thumpety thump thump,

Look at Frosty go.

Thumpetty thump thump,

Thumpety thump thump,

Over the hills of snow.

Frosty the snowman knew

The sun was hot that day,

So he said, "Let's run and

we'll have some fun

now before I melt away."

Down to the village,

With a broomstick in his hand,

Running here and there all

Around the square saying,

Catch me if you can.

He led them down the streets of town

Right to the traffic cop.

And he only paused a moment when

He heard him holler "Stop!" For Frosty the snowman

Had to hurry on his way,

But he waved goodbye saying,

"Don't you cry,

I'll be back again some day."

Thumpetty thump thump,

Thumpety thump thump,

Look at Frosty go.

Thumpetty thump thump,

Thumpety thump thump,

Over the hills of snow.

When santa got stuck up the chimney, he began to shout.

You girls and boys won't get any toy if you don't pull me out!

My beard is black, there's soot in my sack, my nose it tickling too.

When santa got stuck up the chimney,

Aitchoo, Aitchoo, Aitchoo!!!

:)

This always reminds me of my daughter when she was 2 and a half singing it in pre-school.:-4

Well I have two that mostly ring a bell with me. The first Away in a Manger, is the song I had to memorise and sing at our school's christmas carol service. Oh the memories, and the second is The Twelve Days Of Christmas, which I just really love. I would print the 12 days carol, but that would take up too much space. :p

Away in a manger,

No crib for His bed

The little Lord Jesus

Laid down His sweet head

The stars in the bright sky

Looked down where He lay

The little Lord Jesus

Asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing

The poor Baby wakes

But little Lord Jesus

No crying He makes

I love Thee, Lord Jesus

Look down from the sky

And stay by my side,

'Til morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus,

I ask Thee to stay

Close by me forever

And love me I pray

Bless all the dear children

In Thy tender care

And take us to heaven

To live with Thee there

I loved this one. It's a west Indian carol.

The virgin Mary had a baby boy,

the virgin Mary had a baby boy,

the virgin Mary had a baby boy,

and they say that his name is Jesus.

Refrain:

He come from the glory,

he come from the glorious kingdom.

He come from the glory,

he come from the glorious kingdom.

Oh, yes! believer! Oh, yes! believer!

He come from the glory,

he come from the glorious kingdom.

2. The angels sang with the baby was born,

the angels sang with the baby was born,

the angels sang with the baby was born,

and they say that his name is Jesus.

(Refrain)

3. The shepherds came where the baby was born,

the shepherds came where the baby was born,

the shepherds came where the baby was born,

and they say that his name is Jesus.

(Refrain)

4. The Wise Men came where the baby was born,

the Wise Men came where the baby was born,

the Wise Men came where the baby was born,

and they say that his name is Jesus.

(Refrain)

I love that one Sherry, and The Little Drummer Boy is a favourite too.

But one of my most favourites is The Carol of The Bells. I keep hearing it on American TV shows and in films but we just don't sing it here sadly ad I can't seem to find a good recording of it. :-3

Another of my all-time favourite's is Chris De Burgh's "A Spaceman Came Travelling"

A spaceman came travelling on his ship from afar,

twas light years of time since his mission did start,

And over a village he halted his craft,

And it hung in the sky like a star, just like a star...

He followed a light and came down to a shed,

Where a mother and a child were lying there on a bed,

A bright light of silver shone round his head,

And he had the face of an angel, and they were afraid...

Then the stranger spoke, he said 'Do not fear,

I come from a planet a long way from here,

And I bring a message for mankind to hear',

And suddenly the sweetest music filled the air...

And it went la, la...

Peace and goodwill to all men, and love for the child...

This lovely music went trembling through the ground,

And many were wakened on hearing that sound,

And travellers on the road, the village they found,

By the light of that ship in the sky, which shone all round...

And just before dawn at the paling of the sky,

The stranger returned and said 'Now I must fly,

When two thousand years of your time has gone by,

This song will begin once again, to a baby's cry...'

And it went la la... This song will begin once again,

to a baby's cry...

And it goes la la... Peace and goodwill to all men,

and love for the child...

Oh the whole world is waiting, waiting to hear that song again,

There are thousands standing on the edge of the world,

And a star is moving somewhere, the time is nearly here,

This song will begin once again, to a baby's cry…

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth

Every body stops

and stares at me

These two teeth are

gone as you can see

I don't know just who

to blame for this catastrophe!

But my one wish on Christmas Eve

is as plain as it can be!

All I want for Christmas

is my two front teeth,

my two front teeth,

see my two front teeth!

Gee, if I could only

have my two front teeth,

then I could with you

Merry Christmas.

It seems so long since I could say,

Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!

Gosh oh gee, how happy I'd be,

if I could only whistle (thhhh)

All I want for Christmas

is my two front teeth,

my two front teeth,

see my two front teeth.

Gee, if I could only

have my two front teeth,

then I could wish you

Merry Christmas!

Christmas For Cowboys (and Far)

S. Weisberg (c) 1975 Tall in the saddle we spend Christmas dayDriving the cattle on the snow-covered plains. All of the good gifts given today;Ours is the sky and the wide open range.Back in the cities, they have different ways,Football and eggnog and Christmas parades.I'll take the blanket; I'll take the reins;Christmas for Cowboys and wide open plains.A campfire for warmth as we stop for the night; The stars overhead are the Christmas-tree lights. The wind sings a hymn as we bow down to pray;Christmas for Cowboys and the wide open plains. It's tall in the saddle we spend Christmas Day,Driving the cattle on the snow-covered plains. So many gifts have been opened today;Ours is the sky and the wide open range. It's Christmas for Cowboys and wide open plains.

Let It Snow!

Sammy Cahn, Jule Styne (c) 1945 Oh, the weather outside is frightful,But the fire is so delightful,And since we've no place to go,Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.It doesn't show signs of stopping,And I brought some corn for popping; The lights are turned way down low,Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. When we finally say good night,How I'll hate going out in the storm; But if you really hold me tight,All the way home I'll be warm. The fire is slowly dying,And, my dear, we're still good-bye-ing,But as long as you love me so.Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,

in the bleak midwinter, long ago.

Our God, heaven cannot hold him, nor earth sustain;

heaven and earth shall flee away when he comes to reign.

In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed

Angels and archangels may have gathered there,

cherubim and seraphim thronged the air;

So this is Christmas

And what have you done

Another year over

And a new one just begun

And so this is Christmas

I hope you have fun

The near and the dear one

The old and the young

A very Merry Christmas

And a happy New Year

Let's hope it's a good one

Without any fear

And so this is Christmas

For weak and for strong

For rich and the poor ones

The world is so wrong

And so happy Christmas

For black and for white

For yellow and red ones

Let's stop all the fight

A very Merry Christmas

And a happy New Year

Let's hope it's a good one

Without any fear

And so this is Christmas

And what have we done

Another year over

A new one just begun

And so happy Christmas

We hope you have fun

The near and the dear one

The old and the young

A very Merry Christmas

And a happy New Year

Let's hope it's a good one

Without any fear

War is over, if you want it

War is over now

Happy Christmas............john lennon

I don't know that I actually have any favorites. But I remember, as a child, sitting up in my brother's room, playing Nat King Cole on the record player, & planning out where we'd each (3 of us) hide on Christmas Eve to see Santa. Of course, we ALWAYS fell asleep before we could actually follow through with it!!! :(

What a jolly thread!

Since you're such a YOUNG Santa, maybe you'll like it if I reprise

this one:

Santa Baby,

Just slip a sable under the tree

For me

Been an awful good girl

Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa baby, a '54 convertible too

Light blue

I'll wait up for you, dear

Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Think of all the fun I've missed

Think of all the fellas that I haven't kissed

Next year I could be just as good

If you'll check off my Christmas list

Santa Baby, I want a yacht and really thats not

Alot

Been an angel all year

Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa honey, one little thing I really need

The deed

To a platinum mine

Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with a duplex

And cheques

Sign your 'x' on the line

Santa cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Come and trim my Christmas tree

With some decorations bought at Tif-fa-ny

I really do believe in you

Lets see if you believe in me

Santa Baby, forgot to mention one little thing

A ring

I don't mean on the phone

Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Hurry down the chimney tonight

Hurry...tonight

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum

A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum

Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum

To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,

rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,

When we come.

Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum

I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum

I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum

That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum pum,

rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum,

On my drum?

Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum

The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum

I played my drum for Him, pa rum pum pum pum

I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum,

rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum

Me and my drum.

I like this when the boys choir do it!

Bells will be ringing this sad sad New Years

Oh what a Christmas to have the blues

My baby's gone I have no friends

To wish me greetings once again

Cries will be singing Silent Night

Christmas carols by candlelight

Please come home for Christmas

Please come home for Christmas

If not for Christmas by New Years night

Friends and relations send salutations

Sure as the stars shine above

But this is Christmas yes Christmas my dear

The time of year to be with the ones you love

So won't you tell me you'll never more roam

Christmas and new Years will find you home

There'll be no more sorrow no grief and pain

And I'll be happy, happy once again

Oh there'll be no more sorrow, no grief and pain

And I'll be happy, Christmas once again

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,

Let your heart be light

From now on,

our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,

Make the Yule-tide gay,

From now on,

our troubles will be miles away.

Here we are as in olden days,

Happy golden days of yore.

Faithful friends who are dear to us

Gather near to us once more.

Through the years

We all will be together,

If the Fates allow

Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.

And have yourself A merry little Christmas now.

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – lyrics

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas!

The heart warming Christmas song Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas was immortalised by Judy Garland when she sang this song to Margaret O'Brien and brought tears to the eyes of the audience.

The lyricist for Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas was Ralph Blane and the haunting music was composed by Hugh Martin.

The song Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas was first published in 1943. The title of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas is undoubtedly one of the saddest Christmas songs of the century.

When I was around 11 or so, they had me sing this in the church Christmas program. I came out in a long, Christmas nightgown holding a teddy bear. I can't for the life of me figure out why I sang this instead of a religious one.

"I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"

I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus

Underneath the mistletoe last night

She didn't see me creep down the stairs to have a peek

She thought that I was tucked up in my Bedroom fast asleep

Then I saw mommy tickle Santa Claus

Underneath his beard so snowy white

What a laugh it would have been

If daddy had only seen

Mommy kissing Santa Claus last night.

I saw mommy kissing santa claus

Underneath the mistletoe last night

She didn't see me creap down the stairs to have peak

She thought that I was tucked up in my Bedroom fast asleep.

Then I saw mommy tickle santa claus

Underneath his beard so snowy white

What a laugh it would have been

If daddy had only seen

Mommy kissing santa claus last night.

LOL - My Dad used to sing that to us!

The song that always reminds me of Christmas, whatever the time of year, is 'Let it Snow' from the Die Hard movie.

i dont want alot for christmas

there is just one thing i need

i dont care about the presents

underneath the christmas tree

i just want you for my own

more than you could ever know

make my wish come true

all i want for christmas is youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I don't want a lot for Christmas

There is just one thing I need

I don't care about presents

Underneath the Christmas tree

I don't need to hang my stocking

There upon the fireplace

Santa Claus won't make me happy

With a toy on Christmas day

I just want you for my own

More than you could ever know

Make my wish come treu

All I want for Christmas is you ...

You baby

I won't ask for much this Christmas

I won't even wish for snow

I'm just gonna keep on waiting

Underneath the mistletoe

I won't make a list and send it

To the North Pole for Saint Nick

I won't even stay awake to

hear those magic reindeer click

'Cause I just want you here tonight

Holding on to me so tight

What more can I do

Baby all I want for Christmas is you

You ...

All the lights are shining

So brightly everywhere

And the sound of children's

Laughter fills the air

And everyone is singing

I hear those sleigh bells ringing

Santa won't you bring me the one

I really need - won't you please

Bring my baby to me ...

Oh I don't want a lot for Christmas

This is all I'm asking for

I just want to se baby

Standing right outside my door

Oh I just want him for my own

More than you could ever know

Make my wish come true

Baby all I want for Christmas

Is you ...

All I want for Christmas

Is you baby

Is you baby

Mr Hanky the christmas poo by south park soooo funny

We've all heard of Rudolph and his shiny nose..

And we all know frosty who's made out of snow..

But all of those stories seem kind of, Gay..

Cos we all know who brightens up our holiday..

Mr Hankey, The Christmas Poo

Small and Brown, he comes from you

Sit on the toilet, here he comes

Squeeze him tween your festive buns!

A present from down below

Speading joy with a 'howdy ho'!

He's seen the love inside of you

Cos he's a piece of poo!

Sometimes he's nutty, sometimes he's corny

He can be brown, or greenish-brown

But if you eat fibre on Christmas Eve

He might come to your town..

Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo

He loves me, I love you

Therefore vicariously, he loves you

'I can make a Mr Hankey too'!

Cartman: 'Well Kyle, where is he?'

Kyle: 'Uh, he's coming..'

Stan: 'Come on dude, Push!'

Kyle: 'I'm trying'

Cartman: 'Wait Wait! I can see his head'

Kyle: 'Here he comes..'

Mr Hankey: 'HOWDY HO!'

I'm Mr Hankey, the Christmas poo..

Seasons greetings to all of you..

Lets sing songs, and dance, and play..

Now, before I melt away..

Here's a game I like to play..

Stick me in your mouth and try to say..

'Howdy ho ho, yum yum yum

Christmas time has come!'

Sometimes he's runny, sometimes he's firm

Sometimes he practically water..

Sometimes he hangs off the end of your ass

And wont fall in the toilet,

cos he's just clinging to your sphincter

And he wont drop off, and so you shake your ass around..

And try to get it to drop in the toilet

And finally it does..

Mr Hankey the Christmas Poo

Christmas leaves, he must leave too..

Flush him down, but he's never gone,

His smell and his spirit lingers on.

Howdy ho!

O Holy Night and Greensleeves.

I can still hear my mother singing O Holy Night in the Church Christmas program and I sang Greensleeves. I also remember my Great Grandmother singing Silent Night in Dutch, it was so beautiful!

Sighing with tears in the eyes and a smile from the memories.
