My husband claims this song is about lesbians. but I disagree. So please tell me your opinion! Please! I love this song, and tired of being harassed when I listen to it. :wah:
the song is "Damn I wish I was your lover" by Sophie B. Hawkins.

"I lay by the ocean making love to her with visions clear"
"I'd fill you up"
yep. she singing about another woman.
guys generally do the filling and the women get the filling up. anatomically...
so she's singing to a woman about how good her strap on is.

I don't see anything lesbian about it, Sheryl. I always liked that song.

I never took it that way, JD. In poetry and all that jazz, the ocean is a feminine form and I never saw beyond that. The only part I have a problem with is that part about "come inside my Junglebook." I hope I have that lyric right. I can't help but snicker every time I hear that. But straight or gay or bi or whatever, I think it's a really good song and I like it.

I've never heard the song, never heard of her, saw that she had traits of a lesbian, by the way she was dressed, imo....she is a beautiful woman btw...
but Koan made great points and I agree with her also....

It's about love and desire. The orientation is only incidental.
I've always loved that song. Thanks for reminding me of it.
