:DI can guess what you think you may find here:D

No,dont worry , Just wait and let me give examples of My best Islamic songs :guitarist:guitarist:guitarist

Cat Steven Is my fav ever.....

As Cat Stevens, he has sold over 60 million albums around the world since the late 1960s. His albums Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat were both certified as Triple Platinum by the RIAA in the United States,Stevens converted to Islam at the height of his fame in December, 1977,and adopted his Muslim name, Yusuf Islam, the following year. In 1979 he auctioned all his guitars away for charity and left his music career to devote himself to educational and philanthropic causes in the Muslim community.

I would like to pick One song only for him , its my fav everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :guitarist:guitarist:guitarist:guitarist:guitarist:guitarist

YouTube - A is for Allah by Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens)

My 2nd fav is a brand "Native Deen"...........................Deen means religion in Arabic.

They consist of three young Muslim men who were born and raised in United States of America. Joshua Salaam, Naeem Muhammad, and Abdul-Malik Ahmad who grew up in Washington, DC. Their music seeks to inspire young people to keep their Islamic faith amid the pressures and temptations of daily life...

Here is my best Song ever for them,,,,,,,,,,,,,," Not Afraid to stand Alone"

YouTube - Native Deen - Not Afraid to stand Alone

3rd my third is Sami Yusuf ,he was born in 1980 in the city of Tehran, Iran. His parents moved to Britain when he was three, and he was raised in West London. At a very young age he started to play various musical instruments and enthusiastic in keeping interest in singing and composing. He was accepted as a composition student at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

And the best Son I love for him is .....Al-Mu'allim "means the teacher"

Written by Frances McPeake of Belfast in 1957.

And what's wrong with Yusef Islam anyway :-)

Hi Bryn, its still classed very much as a traditional scottish song.

Commonly described as a variant of "The Braes of Balquhidder" by Robert Tannahill "The Braes of Balquhidder" which was named after the braes, or hills, of Balquhidder near Lochearnhead, and has similar lyrics and tune. For example, the first two verses of this song are:

Let us go, lassie, go

Tae the braes o' Balquhidder

Where the blaeberries grow

'Mang the bonnie bloomin' heather

Whar the deer and the rae

Lichtly bounding thegither

Sport the lang summer day

On the braes o' Balquhidder

I will twine thee a bower

By the clear silver fountain

And I'll cover it o'er

Wi' the flowers o' the mountain

I will range through the wilds

And the deep glens sae dreary

And return wi' their spoils

To the bower o' my dearie

Lochearnhead, Perthshire lies at the western end of Loch Earn and is a centre for both fishing and water-sports: water skiing, canoeing and sailing.

See below link for traditional scottish songs.

I never said there was anything wrong with Yusef, just that i did not particularly enjoy it ;)

Oh Buttercup:-6

I love that version of "Wild Mountain Thyme." My family has a wee, little band called the "Tipsy Rovers." We have banjos, guitars, squeezeboxes, and some great and not so great singers. We always harmonize to this song. It's one of our favorite Scottish songs. We also love "Skye Boat" and

I also love Cat Stevens Muhamed. The first song that I learned to play on the guitar was "Morning Has Broken." I still have his records. Thanks for sharing:-6

I think it's clear that there was a lot of "borrowing" going on - not half as much as Rod Stuart trying to claim it unchanged as one of his own though :wah:

I always liked Cat Stevens and still like him as Yusef Islam - a bit rusty yet but it has been thirty years since.

So many, so many - I really cannot point to one and say, "That's it".

One that has been going through my head all week is Eric Bogle's Green Fields of France.

One that I keep on going back to is Dancing at Whitsun

One that affects me personally is Alex Glasgow's Shut the Coalhouse Door

One I always enjoy is The Dalesman's Littany

One I always love singing is The Blackleg Miners

The list goes on

I remember it from when it was first transmitted and yes, definitely Folk.

And being picky? Very good music but not one of my greats :p

Now Temple of the king seems more folk to me than rock so given the choice of those two i'd have to go with Stargazer. I had a long think about which i'd pick myself and its a really hard question. For Rainbow i'd have to admit its always going to be the anthem thats 'Since you've been gone' For my own choice i had to go with the song that influenced me most, many influenced and had an impact on me but AC/DC You shook me all night long still stands out to this day. :-4

The Rainbow is about as late as I go - as time went on the Heavy Metal became less melodic and had less progression.

Were I to move from the Rainbow it would be to Uriah Heap or King Crimson or Atomic Rooster or .....

As a complete change there would be ELP or Yes or Soft Machime or Curved Air or .....
