Oh dear... you've no idea what you've just unleashed, Mike. I managed to restrain myself from starting this thread last week. ForumGarden, prepare to descend into the abyss.

The Pogues "Fairy Tale of New York " still stands head and shoulders above the rest

Slade, Wizard and the like purely for nostalgic reasons. Takes me back to my drunken teenage adventures (dont do those no more) Anything else is usually a signal for dross to be released in time for the Christmas rush

I like this song as well, but it amazes me on how people kind of miss the point that this is not a typical Christmas song, it is actually sarcastic.

These are the lyrics:

They sold me a dream of Christmas

They sold me a Silent Night

And they told me a fairy story

‘Till I believed in the Israelite

And I believed in Father Christmas

And I looked at the sky with excited eyes

‘Till I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn

And I saw him and through his disguise

There was a Sandi Patty special on tv last night. Apparently she sings allot of those Christmas songs you hear every year. You don't know who's singing them but there they faithfully are every December.

So there she was on the stage singing them and she totally ruined all those songs for me.

I didn't need to see the face behind the song.

Its like watching that magician guy on tv that gives away all the secrets by showing you how they're done.

That guy sucks.

Thanks for ruining my Christmas Sandi Patty.

And thanks for ruining magic for me sucky magician guy.

I was listening to Berl Ives album earlier.

Still enjoy his Christmas album, 50 years later.
