One of the greatest conductors - Abbado dies at 80

Claudio Abbado dies in Bolgna.

He was, if not the greatest, certainly among the greatest conductors of the twentieth century.

My music collection would be sorely depleted should I remove all of the works he has conducted.

This piece by Andrew Clark is, IMHO the best of the many pieces written about his life upon his passing.

He was the conductor of choice for most of the world's great classical musicians
