Jail thread

How about a jail thread, and you can list the names of people who have broken the rules in and temporarily pause their account, and maybe that would let them realize what it is they have actually joined here for in the first place? Which is to have public discussions and if they can't be respectable about it, then they would get dealt with accordingly.

It would likely start hysteria, why is my friend in there? he/she is wonderful & kind & so on. Then you'd get a whole load of (free member) threads. Nice thought K but doubt it would work

Actually I like this idea. A kind of holding cell with posts restricted to that area only. I think it would be cool if other members could visit on Sundays just to taunt them or throw stones but the prisoner cant reply.

The prisoner should be deprived. Perhaps a pole could be installed in front of the cell for extreme taunting.

The problems I see are:

"you" = Tombstone?

or

"you" = any member who is having a bad day?

"temporarily pause their account" = what does that mean?

a jail thread implies they can only exist in that thread. That's kind of what the compost pile contributors risk. There is already an area like that.

"respectable" = a matter of opinion.

this is something that needs to be established.

is this jail thread a place where you want the quality of the posts assessed more like a "holding cell" or where you want the punishment carried out?

I was more or less thinking of someone being blatantly disrespectful should have their account paused and their name listed in a sort of on hold thread in a humorous way to get people to understand how childish it is to argue on a computer.

So what you are asking for is an admin noticeboard that tells everyone who has infractions. So that you know the rules are being upheld?

Sort of yeah...

I think a problem with this idea, which is more like a dunce cap than a jail, is that if people know someone has infractions then it tempts others who wish to see someone banned or "paused" to push buttons until the third infraction is given. I have reasons for thinking that.

If you are just talking about finding out who has been suspended after their third infraction then it doesn't require a thread. It would be an info bar where banned members have "banned" written under their name, but it would say "On Quiet" or something.

Well, then the person "pushing the buttons" should have their account paused as well, and upon any length of time they can find out for themselves what being a member here means to them...If they could care less either or, then to be honest maybe it would be best for them to move on...And besides,..anyone having their buttons pushed should be adult enough to be able to leave it alone...

From all of the "buttons being pushed" talk your making it sound like some of these disagreements go deeper than anything I've witnessed...That's a pretty negative attitude to have(Not you, but for someone to be that angered over an argument on the computer)
