What could be better than a day when stress subsides, when there is nothing to do if you don’t want to do anything? What could be better than a day when you can eat leftovers and enjoy them more than on the day before...in my case leftover Antipasto (since I was married 40 years ago)?
You don’t have to go to school and if you are lucky (or retired) to work either.
What could be better than getting up in the morning and surveying the scene and getting a fresh look at your new toys, and lamenting over the ones already broken?
The disappointment of the day before has subsided and you focus not on what should have been but what was. You care not about the missing gift receipts or the wrong size or color or even the calories consumed the day before.
If you are older, the house is now quiet, the grandchildren are gone and while you miss them, you enjoy the quiet and the new found ability to watch what you like on TV. The paper wrapping has been sent to the trash, you don’t care as much about watering the tree or even getting dressed before noon.
Now if you are one of those people who see this day as a new shopping opportunity, a bargain bonanza if you will, I piety you because you are missing the quiet peace of the best day of the year. :-1
The best day of the year is the day AFTER Christmas.
