good afternoon and welcome back to grumpy towers this dull and overcast sunday would you like to stay to lunch ?
then we can have a good old gossip about the latest labour brainwave :yh_rotfl
( sorry i couldnt resist that one )
PARENTS of yobs will be forced to attend CLASSES to learn how to bring their wild kids into line.
They will spend THREE MONTHS being given parenting training, under tough plans being drawn up by Home Secretary Alan Johnson.
And mums and dads whose youngsters breach Asbos will have to sign "parenting orders" promising to keep a tight rein on them - or be taken to court.
Mr Johnson explained: "Tackling anti-social behaviour is one of my major priorities as Home Secretary.
"If a teenager is in danger of going off the rails, then one of the best ways to deal with it is to give parents more support at an early stage."
Under his plans, if a child aged from ten to 15 gets into trouble its parents would be hauled in for a compulsory assessment.
Discipline
The interview would look at why their child had gone off the rails and what extra help they need. They would then have to attend parenting classes once a week for 12 weeks to learn how to discipline the kid.
The new move, to be announced later this year, is aimed at intervening early in a bid to turn tearaways around. It would apply to all kids being considered for an Asbo.
New measures are also planned for thugs who have already been given Asbos. If they breach them their parents will be automatically served with a parenting order. They would have to attend parenting classes - sometimes residential - as well as signing up to strict conditions.
Parents could be told to attend regular meetings at school and make the kid go to homework clubs or extra lessons.
They can also be ordered to make sure the youngster doesn't go to forbidden places or hang out with other troublemakers. And they could have to enforce a curfew.
The conditions would be in place for up to a year. And the parent could be prosecuted for failing to keep them and fined up to £1,000.
Mr Johnson said: "Being a parent isn't always easy, and sometimes people need structured help and support from professionals so that they can respond better to challenging teenagers.
"When it comes to tackling anti-social behaviour, it's parents and carers who play the really key role in preventing young people from turning to criminality or the kind of street disorder that can have such an impact on others' lives.
"Parenting orders are not punishments - they are a way of giving adults the skills they need to fulfil their responsibilities."
The Home Secretary's plans come as the News of the World drives forward its Save Our Streets campaign to crack down on crime and violence blighting our neighbourhoods.
Mr Johnson welcomed the roadshows we are hosting across the country, saying: "They give everyone the chance to have their say on what can be done to make communities safer."

AAG
and nanny labours here again telling us how to run our lives.
i fail to see how this is going to work they cannot punish the yob so punish the parent ( wheres the sense in that ED ) if you give little jhonny a good hiding for being feral you can find yourself up in court for assult and end up with social services at your door etc etc.
so the courts will dish out fines of up to £1,000 at a time which will just be added to the already unpaid fines the courts cannot get and how can they lock up parents who do not pay these fines in prisons that are full or will they find room for them while sneering yobs with no respect for justice walk away laughing.
this is just a lot of labour hot air and more spin than a zanusi tumble dryer and hopefully we can get rid of these incompitant fools before they have a chance to bring this lunatic law in.
and anyway how can they punish a parent for something they havent done tying up more police and courts time and increasing a solitiors fat fees when they could be dealing with more serious crimes or is it a case of like the motorists the parents are an easy target and the police can say oh yes look what we,ve done for the crime figures they,re down.
i can see this being a breach of human rights which will have the HR activists up in arms.
we need to go back to grass roots and old values start at schools with the cane
bring back the detention centres and borstals and lock these yobs up.
6 weeks in a army style detention centre will soon straighten little jhonnie out
if not 2 years borstal training.
put these sneering yobs where they belong behind bars because frankly ASBO,S
are not worth the paper they,re written on.

back to class for parents of yobs the AA grumpy column
I feel i can speak with some authority here due to watching my 16 yr olds crimes just get worse and worse until he was finally charged with murder awaiting trial.
Parenting orders are already in existence but at the moment, it is up to the courts to impose them. My nephew was arrested 10 times between the age of 14 and 15 years old. The cases that came to court, the magistrates told my sister she did not need a parenting order as they believed she was a good mother. Since my nephew was charged with murder at just 16 yrs old, i have asked myself what exactly is ' a good mother'?
I think this proposal by labour is ludicrous. As Andy said, all this will do is cost the tax payer more money tying up staff and police. Why the hell should we pay for some scroats mothers mistakes? Yes, and i include my sister in that as well.
If the scheme involved the parent having to pay for the course out of their wages or benifit, it may be more effective.
I would rather see the money invested into building more youth offenders institutes and prisons. Give the Magistrates back the power to impose tougher penalties so the likes of my nephew does not constantly walk out of court from a soft magistrate sticking two fingers up to the establishment.
I'd also like to see more money invested into care homes and the message told to these mothers 'Control them or we take them away'. I'm in no doubt any more that if my nephew had been removed from the estate where he lived and his soft mother, he would not be awaiting trial in custody and looking at life imprisonment right now. There would also not be an innocent man dead and a family grieving for him.
Nooooooooo Labour has created the yob culture in this country. I see it myself most weekends in my own village where we have such a problem with anti-social behaviour that the police have brought in a special unit of Specials to patrol the streets at night.
I'd like to see also fixed penalty fines for parents if their vile offspring is feral and out roaming the streets at night causing misery to any one else. If they took the yob home and served a £100 fixed penalty fine to the parents on the spot, they may just care where their little darling is going the next night.
