Hey a newbie. Every newbie I speak to gets banned, Lynne, so I'll welcome you later, if you're still here.

Unfortunately, Pam, it seems that way! However, at the moment a lot of 'newbies' seem to be people who want to cheat Forum Garden by including advertising in their post or in their signature! This is totally unfair to people/companies who legitimately pay fees to Forum Garden so they can put an advert in the Forum. If people just register on FG in order to bung in an illegal advert, then they deserve to be banned for life, don't you think? I know that some sites are inundated with such adverts and it ruins that site. We, at FG, do try to keep the site clean of these spammers, and I think for the most part, we succeed.

I do hope that genuine 'newbies' are not scared away from our lovely Forum Garden, because of comments. Moderators do have the ability to check information etc. and that is why some newbies do not even get the chance to post anything! Their site name may appear in the 'Who's Online' page and the next thing that is seen is 'banned' under their name! This is because moderators are vigilant and try to be quick to rid the Forum of these spammers. :-6 :D

Please see my comment in the other thread.

I applaud hardworking and vigilant moderators for their amazing hard work in ridding us of nasty spammers, thereby protecting the integrity of Forum Garden and the business arrangements of our legitimate sponsors and advertisers.

It's just unfortunate that the awfulness of some of these spammers is not apparent to ordinary members up front, but often has a most innocent-appearing, friendly beginning.

It takes the special skills and insider knowledge of moderators to determine, and that we ordinary members waste time and effort befriending the bad guys and feel disappointed (and even cheated) when we are deep in a conversation that gets suddenly truncated for excellent reasons I'm sure, but we're left kind of up in the air..... oh well.

Hello, Lynne - and welcome to Forum Garden.

The trouble with that is it leaves the spammers achieving their objective, banned or otherwise.

It is a very difficult situation, I understand that. As spot says, if we leave the 'evidence' visible, those damn spammers have won! We'll just have to devise some way of informing the members by posting something appropriate on the thread that the spammer was last on, if this can be sorted. :-3
